As a huge Harry Potter fan, since its inception, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some Harry Potter merchandising. This mechanical model came neatly packed in a reusable box, which was helpful, given there are a plethora of small pieces and I was not able to complete the model in one sitting.I am not the best at following written instructions, so it was great to see the instruction booklet filled with colourful pictures making it easier for me to be guided. Indeed, where there were words, given it had been translated into 11 different languages and the writing was small and densely packed on the page, I found them hard to digest.The pieces were relatively straight forward to press out of the hanger board but unlike other construction kits, some of the parts did require some force to connect them together! In addition to this, the least enjoyable part was waxing certain components to ensure less friction between the moving parts.Given the small parts and the skill required to connect the pieces, I think UGears has targeted the correct age range of 14+. It was great to see the model progressing into the magic knight bus.I have given this 4 stars due to the negative points previously mentioned.

The media could not be loaded.  Got this for my daughter's 11th birthday and we made it together. I don't think she could have made it herself - it's really in-depth - but together, we could make it over a few days. We did use a video to help - look for "Knight Bus montage video" on YouTube to find a tutorial. It's in Dutch but it's so clear with the instructions across the top, I highly recommend it!The model is just lovely. It's expensive but in my opinion, this reflects the quality of the parts, which have been exceptionally precisely cut, and the care that has gone into the intricate design. We also had some great bonding time with it. Highly recommended.

This is a model kit with a difference, for any Harry Potter fans it could be an epic gift item.The end product is a clockwork driven wooden knight bus that can shrink in size just like the one in the films and books.Everything you need is included in the kit, though if you dont have a strong hand grip a pair of plumbers style pliers (that can expand the jaws) would make certain parts of the build a great deal easier.There are 268 parts that are mostly laser cut ply board on 4 sheets in the box everything is clearly numbered and each board is used in sequence, to make finding the next part super easy.The pieces are easy enough to remove from the boards they were cut from, if there are any small burrs to remove a small piece of sandpaper is included to remove them before you fit them to your bus.The instructions are clear and easy to follow, pay close attention though because it is possible to put some parts in upside down if you are not, which isn't the end of the world but dismantling an incorrectly installed part is a real drag and you can only blame yourself! Obviously this also increases the risk of damaging a part, which you do not want to do.The kit will take 3 to 5 hours to complete depending on competence, this is a kit a teenager could tackle but may need a little assistance.There is even a small piece of wax in the box with clear instructions which parts will benefit from a rub with it.I really enjoyed building this model and am very happy to have a very different Harry Potter item to any of my friends, one that actually does the impossible, when you turn the knob on the top of the bus it magically (well mechanically actually) shrinks in width to go through a tight space, just like in the movie!Not only this but the reduction in width also brings about a reduction in the clockwork motors speed, the bus runs slower when narrow than it does when it is the full width, again, just like in the movies!The way the panels pull back when narrowed and lock back in place when expanded is really something to behold, a true marvel you actually made yourself!The mechanism by which it reduces is worthy of the HP franchise, I have seen nothing else in any of the franchised Harry Potter products that come close to this for ingenuity or application.I found this to be a very enjoyable afternoon spent completely involved in building something I could keep and display and even be a little proud of the finished item!I think this item is worth every penny of its cost, the build is engaging and the end product is captivating.Happy to help

The product is ok, however the person that delivered it is not, he threw it over the gate even though there was somebody in, and then he said that he had put it behind the wheelie bin, clearly he didn't.

I have made a few of these models from Ugears in the past and they are brilliant! The joy is just as much in the assembly as the finished model and if you want yours to actually work at the end of the assembly you will have to sand and wax EVERYTHING the instructions tell you to! Take your time and enjoy it, from past models I can tell you that a pair of needle nose pliers will be your friend to get a good tight fit on the tricky to reach joints. I am planning on gifting this set to a potty about harry friend so have not built it myself but it looks like a solid set of moderate complexity, but less daunting than the cog heavy marble runs I have made in the past. I would be impressed if you managed to get through it in a day so possibly something to put a weekend aside for. From past sets they do require a fair bit of hand strength to locate the pieces together so if you struggle with arthritis or similar it might not be the project for you. But once you get through one model I guarantee you you will be clicking back on Amazon to see what's the next mind boggling contraption that Ugears have come up with!

Every other model that I have bought from ugears have been put together meticulously according to their directions. In the end-all they don’t run. They ask for videos of the problem, but no matter how short I make the video it’s too large to send via email. I was very excited to finally get one that runs!

Habe es für es als Geschenk zum Geburtstag geholt und es ist super angekommen. Eigentlich ist die Person eher ein Lego-Fan war hier aber total begeistert. Auch die Funktion den Bus wie im Film zu verschmälern funktioniert einwandfrei. Gerade für Harry Potter Fans ein super Hingucker in der Vitrine.
