Beware Friends, This May Not Be A Genuine Monoprice Cable
I rated this particular cable 1 star because, as we all know, Amazon will not allow a "0" star. The cable that I received is a sad example sold as a real Monoprice cable, without the build quality and reliability of a real Monoprice brand product. The Monoprice company is not at fault in any way. Because they were not the seller. Other sellers use the Monoprice name, then send a very poor quality generic made in China substitute. Monoprice cables are made in China, but at a much higher standard of quality. This cables description, in exact words states; "This premium USB A Male to USB Micro-B Male 5 pin cable features gold plated connectors for corrosion resistance and to ensure consistent and reliable conductivity". When I received this cable, it was obviously not right. It was in an unlabeled plastic bag. The connectors were not gold plated, and compared with my other Monoprice cables, it is about 2/3rds or less the thickness of a real Monoprice. It also did not have the name Monoprice marked on the cable end, as a real Monoprice does. The Micro end is a loose fit that drops the signal, unlike a real Monoprice brand cable. It is a very poorly made generic Chinese made cable. I emailed the seller, Amamax through Amazon and received no response. Amazon promptly issued me a refund. Then I realized that every other Monoprice cable that I had purchased, the seller was Monoprice. Some might say, "What's the big deal, it's just a cable". To which I say, if you're paying the same price for the inferior cable, doesn't it make sense to choose the superior one. In my opinion, Monoprice cables are easily worth double or more the price charged. The 3' version of this fake is ---> Monoprice 3ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable One thing to note with both of these cables is that Monoprice is never listed as a seller. If it says, *"SOLD BY MONOPRICE" then forge onward and buy it. If not, walk away.Positive comments about what to expect from a REAL Monoprice cable: There is not one negative thing I can find about any genuine Monoprice cable. As always, Monoprice delivers very high quality and value. The cable is thick, but very pliable. The molded ends are well made and very substantial. The connectors are gold plated. When plugged in, the connections are very firm, to insure uninterrupted trouble free data transfer, with proper size gauge conducters to insure adequete power for charging your devices. In my opinion, at even double the price, Monoprice is the best economically priced cable you can buy. Their cables always exceed expectations on all points. On par with much more expensive cables. I have over a dozen Monoprice cables as well as connectors and adapters, and I have never had one fail me. In my experience with many Monoprice products, you can buy any Monoprice product with confidence. That is if you are careful to put in your cart only "Sold by Monoprice" items. The genuine Monoprice version of this cable is: Monoprice 1.5-Feet USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/24AWG Cable with Ferrite Core (Gold Plated) (105456) Final considerations before Purchasing.1- Having Monoprice in the title or "By Monoprice" is not enough to insure that it is genuine.2- Look for: "SOLD BY MONOPRICE", and you will definitely get the real, high quality cable Thanks for reading. I hope someone finds my review helpful in making a buying decision.

Cheap, Fast, Good Quality: Pick Two
Monoprice is known for their low cost cables, it's how they've built their business. If you're looking for a good basic cable you've found it. When you buy a 10 ft micro usb cable you need to be aware of it's limitations. With a regular car charger this long cable means your devices are not going to charge as fast. But if you have this connected to a good AC wall charger the cable perforrms quite well. The connectors are fairly strong...they've held up reasonably well to my 4 year old who likes to grab my phone and take off without unplugging the cable. So far the cable had endured quite a few forced disconnects and it still works. That being said I've bought quite a few of this particular cable and I've seen some last a month..others that failed at 5 months out, but I have two that are going on 11 months now and still work. For a basic cable this is still my go-to choice, but I've started buying braided cables as I'm tired of all of my cables being black or white. A little color can be a good thing.

Among my best cables. Please see review.
I tested them. It's hard to know what individual numbers mean because a device isn't going to draw more than it wants to draw. Connecting a device to a 5V,2.1A and seeing it draw much less than 2.1A doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with a cable if the device doesn't want to draw 2.1A. However, numbers can be compared *across* cables.I have a box with dozens of USB B-micro cables and I was curious to see how they compared. I got myself a DROK® Dual USB 2.0 Digital Multimeter Ampere Voltage Capacity Power Meter 7 Modes Monitor for Fast Charging Data Sync DC 3.2-10V 0-3A Volt Amp Charger Detector Mobile Solar Panel Alignment Tester . I took a tablet with its battery at 50% and a nominal 2.1A charger and went at it.I found the cables separated themselves nicely into 3 groups: those that had the tablet drawing 0.4A, 0.6A, or 0.8A. (Okay, 4 groups. There were a few that allowed only 0.2A. They're long gone.) My quick charging cables (so adevrtised) were in the 0.8A group, AS WERE THESE!What more can I say? 5 stars!

This is a WAY smarter buying option then any Cell phone store!!!
I have bought over 15 of these and all work (1 or 2 will charge no problem but seem to have a loose fit... So loose that if your holding/ using the phone.... the plug falls out, but the others fit snug). The reason I bought so many is because everyone that saw these long charging cables wanted employees. So I gave some away but mostly I have alot of these cables cause I need chargers in the kitchen, the living room, bedroom, work, for traveling etc and I don't have to worry about finding a cable now to charge my phone.... in my house charging a phone is as easy as finding a electrical outlet. Since we have replaced, upgraded and added so many new phones over the years we have tons of those outlet/ sub charger things so we didn't need to buy those but I am sure those are really low priced also here on Amazon. These cables charge my Kindled also as well as transfer data from phone to computer no problem. I only gave it 4 stars cause some cables were not tight fit.

Flawless short micro usb cable
Excellent and very affordable product. The fact the micro connector is a bit thicker is actually preferable as I broke so many flat/thin connectors in the past by just walking on them (Samsung micro usb). These ones are (theoretically) more durable and also more practical to plug in my devices. They work perfectly for both recharging (2A) and transferring data. Tested with Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Sony rx100 without trouble.

Don't buy this product from Skque
I bought this from Skque, and it doesn't appear to be a genuine Monoprice cable. There's no Monoprice branding, and it doesn't quite match the design of a couple of other Monoprice cables I've bought fairly recently. It was extremely cheap, so I can't really be too annoyed, but I still felt I should warn people. No idea about quality yet; it feels reasonably solid, but only time will tell. I've bought Monoprice cables from Skque before, and they were genuine, but this particular one and another I bought with it definitely seem to be knock-offs, so be careful when using this seller.

Cheap knock-off
I bought this from Skque, and it doesn't appear to be a genuine Monoprice cable. There's no Monoprice branding, and it doesn't quite match the design of a couple of other Monoprice cables I've bought fairly recently (from the same seller, in fact). It was extremely cheap, so I can't really be too annoyed, but I still felt I should warn people. No idea about quality yet, but it doesn't feel as solidly-built as a real Monoprice cable.

Not great for charging
While it's a good quality cable (as to be expected with 28/28awg) the sheer length of it prevents it from being suitable for charging, using this to charge a phone/tablet will either charge very slowly, or even discharge, as it can't supply the device with enough current.
