Beatles Revolver. Best stereo version yet.
People may or may not know, but back in the 60s the stereo versions the the Beatles albums were mixed not by the group but by the engineers. Why? Stereo wasn't yet "the thing". The Beatles supervised the Mono master, then went. Giles Martin (son of George M), has now started to mix them, from the master tapes, in true stereo. And he's done an excellent job.Until this release the very best sound on Revolver was the mono version in the mono box set. Go listen to how McCartney & Ringo play together on that. Superb. Now we have an equally fine stereo mix.A HIGHLY recommended album. Some rate this higher than Abbey Road, Peppers, or the White Album. They may be right.

Revolver: A refreshing surprise of a mid sixties classic.
I had forgot how good this LP was and now for me the 2022 stereo remix makes it even better. The soundstage is opened up, but it avoids the pitfalls of leaving gaps that a bus could drive through. To me it sounds tight, but clean. Listening to this and the session CDs shows how good the original master tapes were recorded.Giles Martin has very sympathetic ears to what his father George Martin originally achieved, production wise, and with the benefit of modern technology that separated the various instruments has enhanced that work. The five CDs, in the deluxe version, each add something extra to the total package. Even the mono mix CD, which was available in The Beatles In Mono box set is a welcomed addition, as many people, of my age (70) would have first heard it in this format, so sounds excellent and the mono mix doesn’t sound belittle the LP one little bit.As I’ve only had the box set 24hrs I have yet to read the accompanying book, but it’s looks as though it contains a wealth of information and facts. The deluxe box is the same size as a normal LP, but thicker, so will sit well with your LPs or Sgt Pepper Deluxe Boxed Set on the shelf. The only downside is the lack of a 5.1 mix on a Blu-ray Disc. An Atmos version is available on the likes of Apple Music, Tidal, etc. but a hard copy would have been the cherry on the cake.Since receiving the box set it has been played constantly and I’m now torn as to the question is this LP better than and aged better than Sgt Pepper? With this new technology, created for the Get Back film will we see the earlier Beatle albums being remixed and the horrible wide panning of vocals/instruments to the left and right channels remixed into a beautiful well balanced soundstage.I can’t recommend this collection or the less lavish versions more highly, a truly classic LP and the foundation for what was to come. Five+ stars.

Just Brilliant
What can you say about any Beatles release and these anniversary albums have been superb, The whole package is great, the booklet, albums and the Paperback Writer single. The records have been manufactured to the usual standard, crystal clear, nice and flat and weighty. They play very well and it was great to hear the album in mono again. This doesn't need my recommendation as it has and will continue to sell well. A must for any Beatles fan.

Best stereo Revolver mix
First of all I have been waiting for this vinyl box set with some trepidation since I heard it was to be pressed by GZ, my past experiences with their pressings have been poor to say the least (see my Lennon plastic ono band reissue review) however my Revolver box set is pressed fine. That over with onto the content I have listened to the stereo version of Revolver since the early 1970,s and have always been frustrated by the early 60,s stereo mix I guess that stereo mixing for "pop" records at that time was in its infancy and the mix has always felt like they threw the kitchen sink at the recording, vocals panned hard to one channel instruments to the other, I later discovered that at the time the mono mix was the primary aim, as at the time few people had access to stereo record players, much later I listened to a mono Revolver and much preferred it. This stereo remaster changes that, at last revolver sounds like a rock recording in stereo rather than an early studio experiment in stereo sound. For those who have not ever heard the mono version then of course this box set also includes a copy and I think I still prefer it, for those who only ever listened to the original stereo Revolver it should be an education to hear revolver sound as the Beatles intended it at the time. The outtakes are interesting but not essential except to beatles compleatists though John's original demo for what became yellow submarine is of interest, the accompanying book is nice and overall the box set is worth having especially if you have not got a mono Revolver, so after all that why only 4 stars? Because the entry price is too high and so not the best value for money

Revolver box set
I had held back before purchasing due to the very high cost. I still believe The Beatles anniversary boxsets are overpriced, but quality, including book are of a very high standard. The boxset does give a much more complete story, than the 2 cd set, which can only be a summary.

Revolver on vinyl!
This remix sounds fantastic. The Revolver box on vinyl is actually a steal especially on sale. You get the remix plus the pricey harder to find Mono version from a decade ago as well as out takes and a very nice book.

ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS OF ALL-TIME GETS BEAUTIFUL STEREO REMIX
The Beatles' "Revolver" from 1966 reveals a band firing on all 4-cylinders with a producer in George Martin and a young, adventurous engineer, Geoff Emerick, that were able to bring the band's ideas to full fruition. This is an album (and single) full of amazing John Lennon-Paul McCartney compositions, 3 gems from George Harrison, and a kiddies-singalong that is sung beautifully by Ringo Starr in his own unique and honest voice. Ringo, by the way, on this album, shows why he is the most influential drummer of all-time. This package (Super Deluxe - 5 cds) starts with Disc #1 which is the new stereo remix of the classic 1966 album. The hard left/right panning of the original stereo mix is gone. What remix producer and engineer, Giles Martin and Sam Okell, respectively, bring to the 2022 remix is a well-balanced sound using the full spectrum of the stereo picture. This new remix reveals more presence in the vocals and instruments. Ringo's drums come alive. Paul's amazing bass guitar parts, among the very tastiest of all-time by anybody, are heard in more detail. The strings on "Eleanor Rigby" put the listener on the floor of the EMI studio. The backwards lead guitar parts on "I'm Only Sleeping" are clearer than ever. The horns on "Got To Get You Into My Life" are brassier and heavier than the original '66 mix. The tape loops and backwards lead guitar on Lennon’s “Tomorrow Never Knows” come at you from left and right in a non-stop elixir that’s like the audio equivalent of painting in free form style. Even "Yellow Submarine", with the backup harmonies split over the 2-channel stereo field, reveals more layers of harmonies than ever heard before. Extra EP of "Paperback Writer" and "Rain", in both the new stereo remix and original analog mono, now pop out of the speakers in the 2022 remix. "Rain", in particular, finally brings John Lennon's psychedelically-channeled vocal to the stereo center where it belongs. This package also includes 3 more discs of the original 1966 mono mix sourced from the original analog tape, plus 2 cds of alternate takes, working versions and alternate mono mixes, all worthy additions. The gorgeous and informative 100-page hardcover book that accompanies this sumptuous edition is alone worthy of the price of admission. This Super Deluxe of REVOLVER is highly recommended. If you're a Beatlesfan, a MUST BUY.
