R. A. Bock Diagnostics Veterinary Otoscope -- Nothing can hide in our dog's ears now!
I read the various reviews before choosing the R. A. Bock Diagnostics otoscope. I was quickly put off by may of the reviews of the cheaper plastic ones when I kept reading about the attachment coming off. This one is solidly built, feels very secure and the handle allows for a good grip that won't slip. The instructions were very good and easy to follow,Before my cocker died, our veterinarian showed me how to look at his ears using his otoscope. If you do purchase an otoscope, I would definitely advise you to have your vet show you how to use it. It's a wonderful tool, and this one was worth the price. I definitely recommend this otoscope. Be sure to read the instructions before you put in the batteries.I've already explored our chocolate labs ears. I can now see if they just need cleaning or if there is something in there that needs professional help. (They needed cleaning.)I received the scope very quickly. I was impressed to also receive an email from R. A. Bock Diagnostics about the same time the scope arrived. It was a very nice email, which impressed upon me their desire for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. They welcomed me to contact them with any complaints and they would strive to resolve any issues. That was something very much appreciated that consumers just don't see enough of these days. Kudos to R. A. Bock Diagnostics and their employees.

professional veterinary otoscope is just what it says it is
As a physician I have looked into literally thousands of ears--but not of the canine variety. As a recent laborador owner, I had tried my human otoscope and a little vet cheapie I had bought--neither was effective in dealing with such long and deep ear canals. This otoscope was just what I needed! I had thought it was a Welch-Allen instrument , which is the brand every (human) doc uses. When I first inspected this one, I could sense it was not the "real deal" ; however, as I used it, I find it is a close comparison and just perfect for checking those deep ear canals. And the price was right. The best part is having several lengths and diameters of specula. They are just as strong and reusable as those my vet uses. Also, the carrying case is so handy, since I take it to my daughter's to check her Cavaliers, also prone to ear infections.A word of caution: have your vet go over the anatomy and help you before subjecting your pet to using this. Recall that the first duty of any physician is: Do no harm. A human ear is a whole lot easier to examine than a dog's; your dog deserves to be treated without pain.Overall, I would give this otoscope the highest rating for quality, price and ease of use. I highly recommend it to anyone needing it.

Dog is happy again
After dog baths drying out the ears has been a hit or miss effort so that he is often shaking his head long afterwards. At the vet, I saw an proper ear exam and decided buy this tool was the way to go for me. It works great and though I think a lower quality one for less money would have worked as well, it certainly lives up to the price charged/

Well made, just what I needed
While maybe not for the Vets office, this is a great piece for me to do a quick check on my dogs ears. Great light level and I can see what's going on. Decent quality without breaking the budget

Exceptional Otoscope gives Welch-Allyn a run for its money...excellent quality for the budget-minded!
This is a top-notch, medical grade otoscope that rivals units sold by Welch-Allyn in size, weight and function, but at a more, WAY more, affordable price for medical students on a budget, or the serious home user who needs to monitor their child or pet's ears.I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and would not hesitate to do repeat business or recommend. The 5x magnifier that swings away for cleaning; the very bright halogen bulb offer a great view of the ear canal. Don't be fooled by the low price. There's nothing 'cheap' about this unit. It will even use re-chargable "C" batteries! Its weight is hefty, yet comfortable, and easy to handle. For pediatric and ENT students, this is a must, not only for the virtues I stated here, but also because it has an insufflator bulb valve to add that needed accessory when checking for fluid behind the ear drum. Even for the MD, this makes a nice, affordable 'back-up'. (For those who've never used one, like the average home user, it takes a little practice and patience. Ask your pediatrician or veterinarian for a quick 'show and tell' and you're good to go).A+++ to Innovative Innovations for producing this exceptional quality product for R.A.Bock! Why pay $600.00 when 1/10th of that will give you the equal the quality? Please take my word as a retired inspector who used a Welch-Allyn in my former line of work!

Works Great For Detection of Ear Mites and Yeast
Worked great for the animal shelter I worked at and for at home use for the detection of ear mites and yeast infections. We had many stray cats come in with ear issues so it was imperative that they have their ears examined for any discharge or irritation. I found the quality and the ear pieces to be of great quality. The product lasted for a long time (in fact, it still works after 2 years) and the case was also very convenient. Extremely easy to clean and disinfect.

Spend a little more money and get something better
I was very disappointed when I received this product. I thought it would be of higher quality and material. I own a "human" otoscope and was hoping this would be similar. After attaching the head to the handle, the head actually "rattled" and moved. It was not a secure or a tight fit on the base handle. I took it apart a few times and tried to adjust it, but it stayed the same. It also came with broken, plastic ear pieces which would not attach to the light head. I sent the entire item back and have not purchased another item yet. If you have any experience with medical equipment, this item does not even come close to professional equipment. I wouldn't even keep it for home use because it just seemed cheaply made.
