Sport-Brella Vented SPF 50+ Sun and Rain Canopy Umbrella for Beach and Sports Events (8-Foot)

I bought this after reading previous reviews and am very happy I listened. This umbrella is great! There's 2 ways to use it - as a regular umbrella or in tent mode.When used as a regular umbrella at the beach, it absolutely needs a screw base (not included) since it is so large. You can also use the the included cords and stakes to anchor it into the ground. The cords are very long, to the point where I have to them even shorter than their shortest setting.When used in tent mode, you stake the rear of it into the wind and it stays in place even in considerable wind.There are 2 vent flaps that I like to keep open to get nice airflow. The size of the shade this thing provides is excellent. Even when in tent mode, two talls adult can comfortably lay completely in the shade, even in mid day sun. The Sport-brella collapses down into a very manageable carrying bag which is no more bulky than an average lawn chair, which is surprising when considering how big it is when set up.My wife is a big sun person. I like my shade. The Sport-Brella allows me to spread out and have ample space in the shade for myself, cooler and other beach gear.I highly recommend

Used this on the beach. Dug a deep hole and buried the pole in the sand. It held OK, until the wind blew it away and I emerged from the ocean, wondering where it went. Found it on the lifeguard stand. Phew! Glad I purchased the recommended Beachr Beach umbrella Anchor. Used that the second time to secure the umbrella pole and the umbrella waved in the wind, but stayed put. The 7 foot diameter is accepted on beaches, but using it on its side was not allowed. There is only one small piece of Velcro on each side to roll up the triangular flaps. There is also about a six inch fabric strip under the window, but I couldn’t figure out how to use one fabric tie; seems like two strips are needed to secure the triangular flaps or the window, once it is unzipped. I haven’t used the steaks to anchor the umbrella flaps, nor have I anchored it on its side, so I can’t comment on that. The box came damaged and opened, but the product was OK. There is a red button, that I thought was broken, because I though it needed to be pressed to telescope the umbrella out. Not so. The red button has no function that I can tell. Just needed to push the part up to fan out the ribs to open it up. The umbrella is heavy, but it comes in a carrying case with a strap big enough to transport cross-body to distribute the weight. Though the strap is not padded and does dig into your shoulder a bit. For a short walk to your destination, it is OK. On a longer walk to the beach, the pressure on my should started to aggravate me a bit, but it’s pretty nice once it is securely set up. I am glad it arrived in time to enjoy on a spontaneous beach trip.

LOVE this tent! It has survived many beach trips and is still in excellent condition! Highly recommend!

This umbrella tent is not for the beach. With any little breeze from the ocean, it can fly up and impale an innocent beach goer. No matter how many hooks you use to hold down the tent into the sand, it just loosens. It’s a real hazard on the beach. And on a windy day, it can fly like a javelin.So, DO NOT USE ON THE BEACH.

I purchased this for a trip to Ocean City, Maryland. Given family history, I am a high risk for Melonoma, so I try to not bake in the sun if I dont have too. Given the more dense population on the OC beaches I purchased this based on the reviews and its size. I knew I wouldnt be able to put up my 12x12, nor did I want the hassle of taking it down everyday. Im not big on writing reviews but this product deserves it. We had 3 days of near constant 40mph gusts on the beach. This sportbrella was a trooper. I had it anchored on an angle with the side flaps staked in rather deep. It never failed. At one point the lifegaurd asked ppl to take down their umbrellas for fear of injury. I gambled and was rewarded. Not only did it stay put but it didnt warp or break. It flexed and bent but never came close to a break point. Even after all that torture, each day it folded back up perfectly. This thing sets up in less then 3 minutes. It provides enough shade while also being open enough that u dont feel detatched or like you are in a tent. When transporting it fits easily in its sling case everytime without having to stuff and jam like many pop up tents. Its lightweight and easy to carry. After a week using it, I promised my wife I’d wright my first Amazon review, because it deserved it. Kudos to Sportbrella for making an afordable quality product that actually does it’s job

I had purchased this umbrella originally from bed bath and beyond but they only had it in blue (and a red that I have never seen available). And I loved it,but the color, I was not happy with. I went to the beach and everyone had the same one. Which made finding my spot a little tricky.When I saw this sport-brella in a different color on amazon, I had to buy it!! To my surprise it was bigger than the one from bed bath. Not a whole lot bigger but i could actually stand up under it. Granted I am only 4’10” and a half (yes, that half is important me)😂Anyway, if ur taller than me you will not be able to stand under it. But you can fit 2 beach chairs under it and be comfortable. With the one from bed bath (which is smaller by a foot) it was tight to have 2 people in it and It felt narrower and lower in height.I have already tried it once at the beach. It was a little breezy the day I went, and the open windows helped on preventing wind getting caught in it and blowing it away. And the breeze through the window felt nice and refreshing.It was easy set up. Opens the same as a regular manual umbrella. Then you anchor it down and your ready to enjoy the day.I would definitely recommend this sport-brellaIn terms of quality, I have only used it once so far. Time will tell and I will be back to update.

This is my 4th Sportbrella, over 12 years,Been outside in winter,so I can sit out in rain,it stands upright,Taken to beach on its side as a shade/windbreak.I'll get another when this wears out!great idea,though quite difficult to get hold of sometimes and price varies,so shop around.Only thing I've EVER bought online,that I can't praise highley enough!

Good coverage but the wind kept blowing it away.It was a bit tricky to set up too. Good value for money but it's definitely a two person job to assemble.

So pleased with this purchase. We have used it alot for days out and in the back garden with our baby. You can sit on a fold up chair underneath it and still have some head room. Really simple to put up. There is room for 2 chairs and space for bits and pieces. Essential for a baby on a sunny day. Easy to move around when the sun moves. Handy to peg down when it's breezing. It feels really sturdy and worth the money we paid. A purchase which we will definitely get good use out of.
