"Never Miss an Opportunity to Shut up"
Two couples, both madly in love 😍 one with a baby girl, one pregnant. Emily and Brett own and live on a farm in upper New York State. Brett found the bones that started the whole mess! He always wanted to write, so he uses that as an excuse to do his own investigation of the partial body buried on his farm......not a good idea!James and Felicia Russo with baby Zoe, have their lives impacted when Russo is arrested for non-payment of a fine. When the lives of the two couples meet in a most unusual way, the action really becomes explosive. The Author, T.J. Brearton, creates a tension and suspense that is non-stop; the innocent characters are likable, if sometimes misguided. This storyline is wonderfully complex, and so easy to become engrossed in after the first few chapters. Once you understand the flow of the story, and get beyond the stupidity of some of Brett's actions, ha!, the story rushes to a conclusion. The surprises are numerous and not to be predicted by the reader! Very clever! This Author has a great imagination and has done his research well, as exhibited by the fascinating, and frightening, information about the New York Justice System. A very entertaining read!

Okay
It was so and so. The storyline gave me needing more. Not in a good way. I felt it lacked confidence. For instance, there are points of views from the characters that are useless in the story making. The back and forth in the mystery is more like babble. I just felt it was incomplete story telling. As if the author had many ideas and wrote them all. Not weeding away the bad ideas. I thought it was okay. Not really jaw dropping or amazing but okay. The ending is the most interesting in the whole book. Not my best read but okay. I know other people have enjoyed it, good for them. I'm not sure if this was a freshman book for the author but it felt like it. Like I said, in my opinion just okay.

Be Prepared -- You Won't See The Last One Coming ...
... I didn't. This story is told from two different perspectives. Newlywed,Brett Larson, hasn't quite found his niche in the world, but feels he's on the right track. He and Emily have bought an older farm in the Adirondacks and they're happy. In fact, the story begins with Brett digging the beginnings of a home garden in what was once a cow pasture. Years of cow manure have left the ground fertile and soft enough to turned with a garden shovel. What he does turn up has nothing to do with cows. James Russo is a man with a past, but he's found marriage and fatherhood and is trying to put it behind him. Everything begins to crumble when he's arrested for failure to appear in court after being ticketed for driving without a license. The bench warrant comes with big fines (he can't possibly pay) and a trip to Rikers. This story seems to lag a little in the first portion of the book, but read carefully, the author is planting his own seeds of doubt and giving you clues. Unearthed human bones, a metal box containing a single clue, lost bags of stolen money, crooked cops, gangsters, and non-stop action from mid-way through the book to the very, very end.

Good twist at the end
Buried Secrets is a mystery novel by T.J. Brearton. Newlyweds Brett and Emily Larson bought a farm house in a remote part of New York State. Brett uncovers some human bones and a tin box with a cryptic note while digging in the yard. Meanwhile, James Russo is arrested by the police for failure to pay fines on a DUI conviction. Russo is broke and has to go to jail. He leaves his wife, Felicia and little daughter, Zoe behind. The story follows Brett and Russo in alternating chapters until their paths collide. This mystery is well-thought out and has a good pace. The alternating chapters between the two story lines are well-organized. Each chapter is engaging and keeps the reader wondering. The characters are realistic and engaging. There is a good twist at the end.

Four & a half Stars, but only because I almost never, ever give a 5-Star rating, which implies perfection to me!
But this novel was very close to being perfect. It has such a creative and intricate plot, at times its pacing is very deliberate in taking tiny baby steps to advance it. At other times, events occur at breakneck speed, just overwhelming you with so many fast paced scenes that you cannot even catch your breath. The characters are very well drawn with the complexities of real people, warts and all. I was really drawn in and cared about all of the main characters, rooting for even the most flawed among them. I’m an avid reader of suspense/thriller genre, particularly those involving crimes investigated by the police, FBI, etc; and I must admit that I didn’t see the ending coming at all - never crossed my mind! There are very few books in my very large Kindle library that I could say that about. This book is a real pleasure to read and well worth your precious free time to read!!

Thrilling Crime Drama
A thrilling crime drama told in the perspective off 3 persons, an ex-con trying to go straight and a young couple, living in a farmhouse in upper state New York. Buried bones and hidden bank robbery money are the key factors in the drama. The author connects these persons in an unsuspecting way during the first half of the book, then it becomes more revealing as the story evolves. This makes for an interesting read. There are heroes and villains as there should be in a crime drama. Overall, a good read.

Good book!
At first I struggled to get into this book, but then it took off and turned out to be an exciting read. Russo was an interesting character and I enjoyed reading about him. My only real criticism would be maybe more character development on Matt and Emily, especially Matt. The ending was rather surprising. One part was a total surprise, most of it I expected. All in all it was worth the time and I will read other books by this author.

If you like a story that will take you on a surprising ...
Seventh book of my holiday reads. What an intriguing opening this book has. A recently wed couple who are settling into their new home only to discover bones and human ones at that. The author sure knows how to get the readers attention and had me hooked throughout. It's hard to say to much about the story without giving to much away. What I will say is that I wasn't expecting what was coming. There are certainly a fair few surprises in there that were totally unexpected and made for a really enjoyable read.If you like a story that will take you on a surprising and gripping journey of which will have you on the edge of your seat, then look no further.

A great, atmospheric read
A really great, atmospheric read, combining an involving build-up and a climax that’s filled with action and suspense. I loved the characters too and the way you get to find out how they came to be who they are without it breaking the pace of the story.

Avoid
I found this book unreadable in the extreme as it was frivivolous, repeatative and basically did not grip me even one little bit, characters lacked any depth and I have no idea where ridiculous story line was going, gave up at 33%
