Great resource, but hoped it contained more specifics about buttons and rivets…missed the mark!

If you are into blue jeans this must be the ultimate book. He must have a warehouse to keep his collection in. As a collector of many things this book really appealed to me, I just loved the minute detail of the different stitching patters and how it allows him to identify individual manufacturers and even tailors. This book appeals on many different levels. Just as an example of rigorous research it is a joy.

Have barely scratched the surface of this book, but already loving it. Very detailed, lots of photos, large photos. It's a bit technical for the average armchair historian, but a must-have for serious re-enactors who love period clothing. Spotted a friend's copy and then I had to have one for myself. Great stuff.

Exceeded expectations by a mile. Michael Allen Harris has created THE BOOK on denim. If you are a designer this book is a vital weapon to have in your armoury. Utterly beautiful. Thankyou Mr Harris, the Doctor of Denim!

When I bought this book, I was looking for something helping me in my jeans researches. But its became a nice surprise since I've opened it and saw how full of valid information its comes! Recommend

This is an incredible book if you are into the history of clothing/denim. It's great as a resource book or just as a casual read if you are interested in where your denim came from. Great book!

Michael Harris is one of the forefront experts on vintage denim. His collection and attention to detail are truly amazing.

A great book for aficionados of vintage denim jeans and jackets, by Levi's and other early manufacturers! The values of the earliest examples of denim and 'duck' canvas clothing have reached such a level, that people have taken to 'prospecting' in long disused mines, and even 19th Century land-fill sites, to recover the oldest examples! The advantage to the average vintage denim fan, is that these classic early designs are then recreated by the biggest denim companies, as well as numerous smaller manufacturers- and even enthusiasts with a sewing machine, working at home!Mike Harris's obvious enthusiasm for unearthing (literally) these now historical artefacts, and also describing all the intricate details of their design and manufacture, are reflected in every page of this meticulously crafted book, a real 'labour of love', if ever there was one!My thanks to The Book Depository for a great price, and excellent service. Highly recommended.

wonderful book full of as yet unwritten info

Als Modedesignerin habe ich sicherlich ein berufsbedingtes Interesse an der Geschichte des Denims, aber auch für Nicht-in-Fashion-Arbeiter ist es ein absolut fesselndes und gut recherchiertes Buch mit tollem Bildmaterial, welches dem Stoff huldigt, der für uns heutzutage zu einem täglichen Begleiter geworden ist.

Sehr gute Information. TOP Bilder. Ein echtes MUST HAVE für jeden der sich entweder für den alten Westen oder dem Siegeszug der Jeans interessiert!
