Sturdy durable lock for my fence
I wish more locks like this were available to purchase everywhere! This type of unique lock is sturdy, easy to install, and very durable!

Great lock, but can freeze in cold months
I really like the function of this lock, it works well and looks nice. However now it is December and cold, I just went to go through my gate and the lock is completely frozen shut. I would have to knock it loose or heat it up to get through my gate.

Solid material!
Installed on a food trailer door, it’s smooth like butter so far!

Not worth it.
Installed in June and started having issues by October. (I do not live in an area where freezing temps are an issue). Once completely opened or closed it becomes stuck and non functional. Tried to lubricate, but it didn't help. Requires hitting the end of the bar to get the lock to unstick. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a heavy duty lock (their are not many like this on the market) and I really liked it. For the cost I would suggest to go with a different product.

Good Product
This gate lock was easy to install and works like a dream. Well worth every penny as I now live without the fear of neighborhood children opening my gate and letting my little dogs out.

Can’t be re keyed.
Great lock big limitationsIt is well made, looks great, functions well and it looks and feels sturdy enough to last a lifetime. The big limitation is it cannot be rekeyed. We have two gates so each gate has to have its own key. I don’t think the product description makes this point clear.

Best gate latch
Highly recommend. This is solid and works great for my situation. I have a metal gate that has a tendency to sag and I'm usually readjusting it periodically. I had a different keyed lock before but it would jam a lot and I sometimes would be locked in my backyard. The Gatemate 1490116 allows for the sagging of the gate and I have confidence in its operation for years to come.The only thing I didn't like is that the gate swings outward when it's unlocked. That's not the fault of the lock per se. But I remedied that with a second non-locking latch.
