Excellent Sniper Accounts
If you want to read about different sniper accounts from wars such as WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Beirutthis book is for you. This is an excellent book which describes a snipers mission in detail. If you are a formermilitary man you'll be able to put yourself in the snipers position. You will be right there experienceingwhat the sniper is doing. They were all proud to serve their country and give their life if necessaryso we can enjoy the freedomn we have today. Semper Fidelis!

A collection of fiction as far as I'm concerned
My main area of interest in this book were the accounts of WWII and Korean War era snipers which have largely been undocumented in history. In those chapters of this book, there are details so wrong they call into question whether the author was dramatically misquoting the veterans he interviewed, or if some of these veterans we giving entirely fictitious accounts. For example he has one Army Sergeant being issue an M1D rifle in the fall of 1942...a variant of the rifle that wasn't adopted until 1951. No M1 variant sniper rifles were in use in Italy in 1943 as the book claims. Another Army Sergeant claims he had a 1903 Springfield sniper rifle with 10x scope on Normandy. Perhaps this was the basis for the fictitious sniper Private Jackson in the film Saving Private Ryan, however no US Army soldier had a 10x scope on their '03 Springfield in Europe. That rifle is being confused with the sniper rifles being used by Marines in the Pacific. These are not minor details veterans may have been fuzzy about decades after the war; these details are significant fabrications, either by the interview subjects themselves or by the author.

Read it many times and will continue
Loved most of the accounts in this book since I was a younger kid some are a little less action than expected but so goes the experience of war.

Great collection of stories from snipers in various wars
Read the sample which starts with Carlos Hatchcock in Vietnam and had to buy it. This is a collection of short stories from snipers during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Beirut. It's not for the faint of heart. There's stuff here that will stick with you for days but you get to see into the mind of a sniper.

A Good Basic Introduction to Sniper Application
The book was a good read, covering the beginnings of snipers up to modern day deployment and useage. The content of the book could have been organized and presented in a better format, as it jumps around from sniper thoery to actual accounts from snipers. The information serves as a good historical account of the theories and development of sniper tactics, but lacks much content on the modern-day version of the sniper in the modern military.

True experiences
This book was recommended to me by a marksman. It is a brief account of snipers during combat, their training, the ethics by which they follow and the patience needed fot their task. Most people cannot imagine what they had to endure and the danger they placed themselves in. True stories of real life experiences.
