Straight from the composer
I personally do not like "watered-down" music where it has been arranged. I like the actual work of the composers and these books offer that. I use them for my piano students of all ages because the length of the songs are limited to a half a page to two pages, max.

It's a nice challenge to my beginner
If anyone uses alfred premier, I would say this is about is similar in difficulty to the end of level 1b. Most pieces have eighth notes, stacattos, legatos, sharps or flats. It's a nice challenge to my beginner, and the pieces are really beautiful and leave her feeling very accomplished.

For Beginning Piano Start Here
I trashed a piano book that was starting the student out with simplified version of popularsongs that were embarassing to practise and sounded awful when played well. The Keith SnellPiano Repertoire series is a real find. The pieces are well-chosen for level of difficulty and leave you with a feeling of accomplishment.
