Hang them high
These work much better than the ultrasound things, but you have to hang them high in the tree. That's where bird land. Not too bad to assemble. Takes about 10 minutes. They really flicker in the sunlight. I have an apricot tree with finches. The birds avoid them fairly well up to about 3 feet from the bird.

Ornamental Bird detours
I originally ordered these reflectors to keep the birds and their droppings off my vehicles. After I put them up I realized how ornamental. They really reflect the sunshine and my night time lights. I was very pleased and ordered more for the front of the car port. Nice for the price.

Needs assembly, no instructions, didn’t work
Needed assembly, no instructions were given. More importantly, these didn’t work in deterring the pigeons that have been pooping in my yard.Put together, these things look like giant dangling earrings with flat, holographic discs that move/spin when the wind blows, reflecting tiny specks of light from the sun. They’re supposed to annoy the pigeons visually, or something. But what if you live where it’s often overcast? What happens when it’s not windy? What will stop the pigeons from coming when the sun goes down? This ‘solution’ reminds me of this lady I saw on TV that used a balled up sock to plug a hole in her house, to stop a big rat from going through the hole. It’s also like putting on lipstick to make all your problems go away. The product is too simple, and just hasn’t stop the pigeons from coming. I live in 1 of the sunniest states, too.

Break apart half the time when wind pulls them down and they hit ground
Not the most reliable in windy spots even when secured with carpenter putty at the drill hole.

Surprisingly effective
I’ve tried several of these bird abatement products with little success. However, this one seems to work quite well. The daisy-chaining of the reflective discs seems to be the solution. Also, and most importantly, they didn’t degrade in the sun or tangle up and require manual intervention. Really, quite effective

Works for a few months
Product was fine for a few months. But this photo is from about 4 months after putting it up. It’s totally transparent, all the reflective covering is gone. Pretty much useless now.

Works as far as I can see!
You have to assemble this- the good thing is you can make them as long or short as you want. But it takes a little time. After a month, through scorching heat and a few windstorms, they are as shiny as new. Not one bird is on the patio, the front porch, or the fence. They are still up in the trees nesting but not coming onto the porch and leaving a mess. SO, when these things wear out, I'll buy them again.

Practical
Good but very sensible to high winds you have to make sure to tie down securely
