Easy lift
Relatively easy to install. Instruction manual is easy to follow. Makes lifting easy for one person.

Beware - Don’t use supplied hardware
Well, the hoist worked well and I agree the install can be a little challenging. I went to great lengths to ensure the install was correct. I purchased all the correct wood, diligently found all the studs and rafters and had a nice setup for my roof top tent. Unfortunately, about a year after the install the welded eye screw pulled out of the stud. My 165lb roof top tent fell on top of our car smashing out the sunroof and panoramic roof while the eye bolt shot across the garage and smashed the front window. Needless to say, this was a massively expensive “accident”.When you install this - I would highly suggest significantly over engineering your install. The welded screw eye has been replaced and attached to a 2 X 8 long piece of wood that spans across four studs and has 8 1/2” x 6” lag bolt in it. The eye bolt has been replaced with a 1/2” eye bolt that has a 2” washer plus locking washer and nut on the back of the board.I’ve also replaced all of my lag bolts used in the rafters and have long bolts going through and secured with washers and bolts. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Mine lasted for a year and several uses but finally gave way causing significant damage. Don’t risk it. Trust me - the $100 I spent to upgrade the install was pennies compared to my repair bill.

Work great but challenging to install
This is much more complex an installation than appears. Must be very careful. Measure 5 times and double check each step. Must have very good stud finder and confidence that hitting them. But actual device works great once up and running. Very well crafted.

Involved installation process but worth it
Took about 3.5 hours to install this. If your install location deviates from the instructions at all, be prepared to spend time figuring it out on your own. I used this to lift and store a roof top tent. Once I got all the pulleys and rope figured out, works like a charm.

Hoisted into place and secured a 150 pond platform and cargo next to the garage ceiling!
Definitely a 2 person installation and it took a bit to figure out the rigging. Once up on the ceiling, the block and tackle system took some time to elongate to the proper length but once achieved, the system works as stated. The 150 pound platform along with its cargo is easily lifted into place by the hoist system and secured in place. Pleased with the final product. Go and watch the installation videos at the Hoister web site as they are critical in helping you install the system. The written instructions don't quite tell you everything.

Not a "COMPLETE" kit!!!
Does not include the mounting bolts 8 mm ( 10 each ) and 10 washers and the wood for the mounting plate, 2 x 6 x 8 ( 2 each ) and a 2 x 4 x 8 ( 1 each ) .2 x 6 x 8 costed $20 each and the 2 x 4 x 8 costed $15, 8 mm bolts and washers costed about $10.So, you will be spending another $65 bucks on the materials needed to installing this inside your garage. There should have been a big warning sign explaining it's not a complete kit! ( it says it on the inside instruction manual - LOL )I probably would not have bought it if knowing I had to make a trip to Home Depot for extra materials needed, also thinking of returning it!

Works super well!
Used in garage to hoist a Jeep roof top tent. Tent weighs over 100lbs but hoisted easily. Requires a 2x4 frame be built on garage ceiling to mount.. Intermediate level install.

Expensive……yet worth it
If your daily using your lift and the load is over 100 lbs. this is the only why to go.
