Body Art Quality
First let me say I am no color exper,t but I have been coloring my hair with henna for at least five years, every two weeks and have not had any problems. When I now started I used blends and discovered Jamila henna about two years ago. I started off using Jamila Henna for hair which was nice. However after using Jamila Henna body art quality i was hooked, which I believe this product is. The color was so much more vibrant, it was a smoother mixture, it washed out of my hair much easier. I also add, hibiscus for shine, manjistha to boost my red tones and aloe powder for moisture. This gives me a beautiful vibrant hue on my greys which makes it look like red highlights. Apart from the look that Jamila Henna gives my hair, it has also strengthened my hair, not much hair fall. I originally started my henna journey because I formed an allergy to chemical hair dyes and loved the benefits so I never looked back. How I use it, I mix henna night before and apply in my hair next morning. I have tested jamila before and I have found generally after six hours dye has released and can be used. Of all the blends and hennas that I have used my favorite it this Jamila Body Art Quality.

Great for henna tattoos.
I used for henna tattoos. I mixed with lemon juice, essential oils, and sugar the stains came out very dark and beautiful. Also tried mixing with just water as well, the stain still came out dark and lasted just as long. The only difference was the henna when drying looked a little lighter and, the stain took a little longer to fully darken. The stain lasted almost 2 weeks before it started to fade, that was with constant hand washing and showers. Easy to work with, after sifting there were no chunks in the stocking. Will be ordering again.

Product is ok. Would be better if it was fresh.
When I first opened the bag the powder was a brown color instead of greenish, probably old. Then I checked the bag and it said ‘23 so the color should not be this bad for a product that is not that old. I still made my paste with it and the results were not bad! The stain was still good and a nice color, probably due to the other ingredients I used. Overall, the product is ok and still stains.

Messy but worht it!
I am a middle aged African American women. My aunt told me about this henna powder a few years back and I have been using it to color my grey ever since. I was initially using Bigen which I used for YEARS. I stopped because I began to notice I would itch when I applied it. My intention of this henna powder was to use it to cover the grey and then go back and use an indigo henna powder to make it dark since I have always been advised thats the way to cover grey with henna powder. The first time I used it I didn't let it sit long enough and it was orange....yuk! The next time I did it I prepped it, put a top on it and let it sit for about 6 hours. The color changed to almost a black on the top. I then mixed it up and applied it and slept overnight with it on. Messy but oh boy so worth it. I wrapped cotten around my edges, applied a "jerry curl bag" ole-school reference :-) and then a bonnet. I slept on a towel but after all that prep it didn't leak on the towl at all. I wahsed it out and styled it and the next day when I came to work and so many co-workers were like..."how did you get that color streaked in your hair like that...it's so pretty" I decided not to even apply the indigo powder to darken it because I got so many compliments on the color. When it's left on that long the grey turns a reddish-honey blondish color that is absolutely beautiful! When I prep it I just eyeball it. I use water/apple cider vinegar ratio of about 4:1, and olive oil. The olive oil gives it a smoother consistency for application. sometimes I add other essential oils but always olive oil and a little goes a long way.

THEY ADD DYE.DONT Y
I am really disappointed because I have been using this company and brand for almost 3 years and I have bought this specific product almost 10 times. But I am so disappointed to say that they have reduced their quality and add black guy to their product now they claim to have natural powder but when I was mixing something seemed off about the powder. Then I chose to ignore it thinking that it will stain well regardless then after I checked for the stain the very next day I did a five minute stain test and when I wiped off the stain I saw that there is black residue and dye!!! I have attached a picture to show I am so disappointed that they have added black guy to their product I even checked to make sure this was the same exact product I have bought over 10 times and even double checked the packaging to make sure it didn’t say hair dye anywhere. I found other brands that are giving proper stains and are worth the money because this company has got an ego and now refuses to give the quality they used to have.I have attached a picture to show I am so disappointed that they have added black dye to their product I even checked to make sure this was the same exact product I have bought over 10 times and even double checked the packaging to make sure it didn’t say hair dye anywhere. Good henna for the price.
I use henna on my hair and after trying different brands Jamila is the best of all I’ve bought and still buy. This is pure henna so it will make your hair orange. If you don’t want orange hair then you can add tea like red zinger or red rubios. Since I’ve used henna for years my hair tends to be a dark red. I have hair past my shoulders and I‘be found out that a cup of henna will cover my hair. A cake batter consistency is what I use. I also steep my tea for about an hour then reheat it till warm, same thing w water. As for how much water and tea to mix into the henna is up to you. I don’t use lemon juice either. Set the mix out during the day and apply in the evening or vice versa. The expiration date on mine is 7/23.
