I go back and forth between Brother brand and off brands. The best thing about this ink is that I feel like the Brother corporation approves of me as a consumer and, more importantly, as a person. Yes, I falter. Yes, I succumb to products half the price, but the Brother corporation takes me back every time.

I have always used the “real” Brother cartridges so I do not have a good yardstick to compare other options. I mostly print 8.5x11” office kind of stuff and do not do many photos because the photo paper is expensive and the results are marginal. On the other hand, my brother refills his cartridges and prints mostly office stuff well below a quarter of my cost. I have never done a side by side comparison but for sure the Brothers work well.

I try to print the vast majority of my docs in black & white to both save money on color ink and because for my need color docs, although they may look nice are rarely necessary for me. This high yield/high volume product has been in my brother printer for over a year (attesting to it not drying out) and the print quality is every bit as good as the first day it was used. No spitting, etc. Sorry that I cannot report on the number of pages printed but even if I could some are docs and other prints are photos, sometimes I make use of very high quality output (more ink used) so a page count might not be so useful anyway.

I only use new cartridges in my Brother printers, so it can be costly (but not as costly AND aggravating as what happens with the random quality of refills and remans). When used with an "Economy color" printing preset, these last a very long time (yes, even on the blacks, it's better to use an economy color setting, rather than grayscale, as all the cartridges will last longer). I always get perfect performance from the color cartridges; the black cartridges usually require being run through the cleaning program (all 3 cycles) about every 3-4 months (hence 4 stars).

I've tried cheap, third-party cartridges and, yes, they are less expensive than the Brother brand and do seem to work just as well; however, the cheap cartridges have one major flaw which I simply can't abide. The exit port (where the ink comes out of the cartridge and enters the printer) on the cheap cartridges leak ink when they're withdrawn from the printer. This makes a mess and has the potential to cause damage. I've never had this problem with any of the genuine Brother cartridges I've used.

The Brother products work best in the Brother printers. I have tried some of the other vendors. The print quality became poor. When I went back to the brother ink cartridges the quality improved to normal which is very good again.Highly recommend the brother brand and not waste money on the other brands even though they may seem more economical.

No problems. Loaded and passed all the test flawlessly. This product I can keep in the printer for long periods of time, and have no printing problems.

Very easy to install. This is a repeat purchase as have never experienced an issue with colour fading or gumming up the printer.

I have tried to use other brands, but have always found the ink dried out, came out streaky or clogged the print heads. The OEM cartridges are more expensive, but last longer and always give good results. I will stick to OEM for my printer.
