Working Sheet Metal Paperback – January 1, 1993

Probably the most important book out of the series,this booklet provides for basic understanding of making,from sheet metal,all the various boxes,buckets and cans that every shop would need. This book illustrates the basic tools that anyone can construct,especially those on a limited budget. I have bought all of the Gingery books several times as they seem to disappear off my personal library shelves? Might these books contain some valuable info? Over the years(40+) I have built many metal shops,refining and tweaking all the time. These books,although not perfect for everyone,do provide an inchoate understanding of where to start safely.

If you don't much about sheet metal fabrication this book will get you going. There are directions for building a work table, and making a brake to bend metal. There are chapters on how to cut and for sheet metal, make seams, lay out patterns, soldering, brazing, and welding, and tricks of the trade. Safety is dealt with in the first chapter. I really must find a place where I can have a shop. This will be one of the first books I will place on the work bench I will build from the author's plans.

Great book, however, for the type of person this book is directed at it is a costly reader. Some is comon sense some reminds me of "how it was done" back when I went through high school manual arts/shop classes.

i did read this book. it has the bare bones about sheet metal work. i guess i need something a little different.

Good ways to stretch your garage budget when it comes to sheet metal fabrication. Towards the back it explains some of the math involved in making flairs such as on a water pitcher. Designed for the novice user, it is easy to follow.

Not so much sheet metal, but Tin Smithing with very thin sheet metal. Was looking for more information on actual sheet metal and using finger breaks and such.
