Amazingly hot and erotic!
“In Spades” is a coming-of-age novel of a mother and daughter gripped by their need for sexual fulfillment in New Orleans, Louisiana in the years after Hurricane Katrina. Kate, the mother, a native of Southern California was married at a young age and never had the opportunity to explore her sexuality before becoming a mother to two before the tender age of eighteen. For the next ten years, Kate’s energies were consumed by her two children, Jessica and Kevin and by her husband, David. After a move to New Orleans and away from her family, Kate’s aching loneliness starts to wane when she attracts the interest of a handsome black man, Philip, who is attending a company function with Kate and David. Through her sexual contact with Philip, Kate discovers that she is still very desirable. Also through Philip, she meets another black man, Clarence, who becomes Kate’s guide to sensual and sexual discovery. Clarence takes her very far from the young, naïve mother who came to New Orleans. For Kate’s daughter Jessica, the sexual adventures begin reasonably tame. She has a white boyfriend, Neil, but their sexual liaisons lack ‘sizzle’. However, when she sees her mother in an intimate act with a black neighbor in the living room of their home, she has to find out who this neighbor is and find out the connection between her mother and this man. Through her investigations, she is led to Clarence, a central figure throughout “In Spades”. When they meet, Clarence senses that Jessica is searching the same path that her mother is searching. She too, comes full circle to the realization that the sexual fulfillment of herself and her partner in part defines her self-image and self-esteem.“In Spades” is a wonderfully delicious book. It is raw, honest and erotic. There are some chapters which make you smile for Kate and Jessica in their self-discovery and there are some which are difficult to read in their honesty. But you’ll never be disappointed.

Good, honest stories
Finally got around to reading this, loved the stories, a few grammatical errors throughout - expected for indie publishing. Wherever you ladies are now, hope you're well and safe. Longtime fan.

Blown away
First things first. I want to make It clear that I am not a Professional Critic By any means. That Being Said I Have to Say I love this Book. It is Totally awesome and unashamed in the Raw unadulterated reality that is offered. No. I Have Not Read "50 Shades" and to be honest, after reading this I don't think I want to. I think I would sorely disappointed. I came into this with the same frame I did when I read "Ordeal" and for those who are not aware this is the Autobiography of Linda Lovelace. The Changes these two women go through to become who they are to day would Make Most people go insane. If you decide to read this book, you have to come in with an open mind. If you Don't then You can't get into it at all. and even if you are a straitlaced individual you will come to realize how Much Of a freak you might be in enjoying the wonderful words that these Ladies have offered for Our enjoyment. For the Sake Of Not Being Censored, I will not go Into detail about some of My favorite Parts But I will Say this I thoroughly enjoyed the ride I was taken On. I felt Myself almost in tears at points in the book and other times I felt Like my eyes were going to fall out Of my head over what I just read. There was Only One point where I was upset during this entire read.... That was the point where I finished the Book and I didn't have their second book to pick up and continue reading ;-).**DISCLAIMER** this Book is Not for the Faint Of heart on Closed minded Individuals that would seek to condemn these two wonderful women for Sharing the most Intimate parts of their souls with the rest of the world. So If you are one Of those Individuals Move on.That Being Said.Kate and Jessica Hats Off to you Both and I will be Reading your second Book SoonLove and respect.

Very Good Read!!
I enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the second one. I must admit that some parts were very tough to get through. All in all there was way more positive things that overshadowed that negative. The main characters were able to stop their self destructive ways and pull out of the nose dive they were in. At the same time piecing together the aspects of their private lives.

I couldn't put this down. It was a great read. The story of Kate and Jessica as they journey to find themselves sexually and all the bumps and bruise along the way. It was well written and honest to a fault. I can't wait to pick up the next book to continue their story.

Great erotic read of real life experiences
A nice erotic read. Sometimes even too sexual and kinky for me, and I love this type of stuff. The real excitement is that these stories are real and not made up, well as far as I know anyway.

An engaging and honest piece of literature
This is a fascinating and unequivocally honest account of the 2 central characters journey of discovery. Some of the content will make uncomfortable reading and I certainly had my share of those. Once I got past the disturbing elements though, I found the book refreshing in its sincerity. At no point did I feel it was disintegrating into boring cliches. The stories are 'full on' in their depiction of interracial encounters and drug use; which gave the book its air of authenticity. The younger protagonists stories were by far the more unsettling. Fortunately, she found her protector much later in her journey unlike her Mother who found hers earlier. This book is not for everyone. In fact, I will struggle to find anyone in my circle [male or female] to recommend it to. That said, as a piece of true to life literature exploring the breath of female sexuality and interracial sex in particular, It is unsurpassed.

Alternative and very pleasantly un-pornographic
When you sweep away the thrills, this is a very honest account of what suppression, oppression and denial can do to generate something almost akin to sexual addiction. It is indeed a story of two interwoven journeys with serious consequences.

Extreamly hot & informative read
Wow was not expecting this book to be so compelling, yes it's very arousing erotic read but also very informative & detailed insight into two women's sexual desires & fantasies. I only wanted to read a few pages as I had errands to run but ended up forgetting this book just sucked me in. As a black man it's intriguing to read about interracial relationships & sex from not one bit two women's prospectives. I'm now following their blog & can't wait to find out more about their insight into their attractions to black men, I hope they have more books planned & maybe a movie to (just wishful thinking). I definitely recommend this book a strong 20/10 :)

Something different
Erotica with a real difference - it's a real life account, some of it very explicit, some of it verging on the alarming, but utterly compelling. A real eye opener of a book. Recommended for a holiday read...
