Eulogy for the Fans Orange Goblin: Live 2012

I love these guys, and I have to disagree with the other review stating that the mix is "unlistenable" and too bass heavy. I guess that is just a matter of opinion though. The quality is pretty good for the raw feel, and I enjoyed getting to catch the energy of the band. If you like Orange Goblin, then this should be a good choice.

Very good....powerfull

The CD audio is very SUPER bass-heavy (4-string & double bass drums), almost un-listenable! The notes on the back of the CD cover tell the listener that this is audio in its purest form--"no studio overdubs, no over-polished production", etc. At best, this sounds no better than a bootleg recording.Other than the super-heavy bass, the background music sounds pretty good.

I have seen OFGB live, twice, and this CD/DVD captures the energy and power of the band to the hilt! And because you, the listener, can control the volume knob it sounds better than the excruciatingly loud levels you're likely to endure at a metal concert :)But seriously - many of Orange Goblin's most awesome tunes are on this bad boy, pummelling and bashing our skulls with rifftastic ferocity. Ben Ward's vocals are in fine form, guttural and grizzly, but fun to sing along with. Joe Hoare's guitar is jamming & melting faces, while the punishing rhythm section of Chris Turner on drums and Martin Millard on bass combine into a punishing combo that hits your chest cavity like a cannonball.If you're reading this you know Goblin is the real deal, and "Eulogy for the Fans" sounds like it. This is actually one of the most powerful live mixes I've ever heard, if not THE most, and it wasn't over-mastered either. It's not perfect, but that would be impossible to achieve by recording a live band in a tent! Get the studio albums if you want polished perfection. As for me, the bass and kick are perect - most rock music these days cuts out freqs below 40-45Hz, but this is mixed to sound just like what it is: A powerhouse band kicking ass in the prime of their life.Not bad for a bunch of old metal heads!

I found this when I was actually looking for something else in the bins at the local record emporium. And it just may be the find of 2013 so far! I have their latest studio set and this one has made me order the box set. When I first put it in the car player it did sound a little bass and drum heavy, but that's what gives it its punch!! I really think it adds to the live feel overall. "Just the sound of four men walking (stumbling) on stage, plugging in and giving it their all to have a bit of a heavy metal party!" I think that pretty much says it all on the back of the cd! The entire cd is very listenable and rocks to high heaven!! My only complaint, if you would call it that, is that the dvd is not a video of the concert, but still shots of band members while the songs play in the background. So, if you like Orange Goblin in particular and heavy metal/hard rock in general, get this one ASAP!

Enjoyable and fun recording of Goblin's headlining of the Sophie Lancaster Stage a few years ago at Bloodstock.While the sound quality isn't exactly perfect, you wouldn't expect any less from Orange Goblin. All the hits are here with some funny Ward commentary throughout.Brilliant to bang your head to. Crack open the beers!

Orange Goblin never cease to fail me in the music they play, here you have their Bloodstock set in all it's glory, very heavy, if you love Sabbath and old style 70's rock, you are in for a treat.....play loud..............VERY LOUD.

Best. live. album. ever! Existing Goblin fans will know that this is exactly what a Goblin gig is like. For those who haven't heard them yet - you'll love it! Best live British band in the world
