This was the best pumpkin carving kit I ever bought. The cookie cutters are cute and plentiful and the scraping tool makes the job easy and fun. I did these with my 4 year old granddaughter.

I've sent photos of my recently carved pumpkins to others and they think I'm skilled now. Little do they know I have a secret weapon! These are perfect, so quick & easy. Also, bonus perk I wasn't expecting: the scraper keeps me from being up to my elbows in pumpkin guts. It's a win all around.

So we ordered this and tested it before Halloween. Here is what I think. It makes really cool pumpkins and I was surprised how many faces you could make from it. For instance I turned one mouth upside down and added another mouth to make a quirky funny face. Yes the mallet that came with it was a joke, and I wish the edges were sharper as it takes a lot of force with a hammer to break into the skin of the pumpkin. I wouldn't use this product on a large pumpkin, but small and medium seem to be great. Also be sure to hit on the corners like the instructions say so you don't bend your shapes. We didn't bend/break any of ours with our test pumpkin and they were sturdier then I thought they would be, but I wouldn't bank on them lasting for five years. I considered other kits, but this one has the hook to pull out the shapes. And it turns out you do need that for some of them. At times they punched through just fine, and other times they didn't. It can take a lot of strength to pull them out, so the hook was helpful. We have a bunch of little kids and were hoping this would cut down the time of carving as lets face it, for youngsters, mom and dad end up doing most of the carving. They loved all the pieces and designing a face, but because it takes a lot of force, I wouldn't let them hammer until it was stabilized into the pumpkin so they didn't have to hold and hit at the same time, so you still end up doing a lot. The pumpkin scoop is very sturdy and overall I was surprised at the quality of the product. Although we are still going to have to help our kiddos a lot, I was happy enough with it that we are keeping it. We paid about 17 dollars for it. So worth the cost.

I loved these! It took away the stress of carving with your little ones. It still gave them the opportunity to lay out the pieces and find a silly face that they want to do and be creative with it! My little one loved using the mallet (with supervision and a little help, of course)These photos are ones we made using only this product.
