This is great.
We have PIV cards and new card readers on our keyboards at the office. The readers being on the keyboard poses two big issues. The first issue is that I always forget to remove my card when I go home, which is a big security issue. The second issue is that our keyboards are on a tray that slides out from under the desk. If we leave the PIV card in the keyboard and slide the tray under the desk to move it out of the way, the card hits the desk and bends or worse, actually breaks. It takes forever for us to get re PIVed. Luckly I did not have to load a driver or software for this badge holder. Although it does come with a disk, I was fortunent to have the right type of driver already on my desktop. I just plugged in and it worked. Two complaints. The holder does not hold my card as tightly as I like...It is a little loose and I am concern that my card could fall out of the holder...I used it all week and it has not fallen out yet...but I am affraid it could get more loose over time. Some type of clip at the top to add additional security would be a welcome change. I wish the landyard was a little longer so I could slide over my head easier. I do recommend this purchase... this was the answer to several issues caused by the new PIV and card readers in my office. Actually management like mine so much they are going to purchase a few and try them out.**** Update, was able to use for several months and the holder broke away from the neck strap. The plastic actually cracked... I am disappointed and will not purchase another, I reduced from 5 stars to 3 stars.

It's good
Ordered the 119 received the 119X. I don't mind a substitution but communication would have been appreciated. Worked fine right away, seems sturdy, no issue with lanyard (someone else complained that it was cheap material) It has some weight to it and I don't really see myself wearing it around and as stated it could use a fold and store function for the retractable cable. Overall I received what I was expecting and am happy. Shipping was very fast and packaging sufficient. I would order from this seller again.

Great Reader / USB Hangs
Worked as soon as I plugged it in to my government machine (Optiplex 360). I wish there was a hook, magnet, storage portion for the USB cord. I don't like it hanging down.Going to replace the neck lanyard portion with actual 550 Paracord. It holds up a lot better than the cheaper stuff used to make this one.Deducted a star for so-so neck lanyard and no USB cord storage. Functionality is perfect so far. Will add this to the list of devices that work OOTB for CAC/PKI on DoD networks.

Perfect little companion...if the locals would allow it
This thing is only limited by your comm-Nazi's ability to understand that these won't infest the network with malicious garbage. So, for those of you with understanding and friendly communications personnel...PERFECT!It's an ID holder and portable CAC reader that literally won't let you walk away without it. The reader is perfect for folks like me...who don't seem to remember to take the thing out all the time. I've been snagged back (unceremoniously) by the tether a few times.Oh, and for those with over-zealous security.... The card slips in and out easily so Ug can feel that your ID's not a fake. Next, they'll come up with a reason to lick the darn things. I'm thinking banana or snosberry.

"smart" smart card reader
This is my second stanley item, and I love them both. The first one I got was the 114, which worked out great. I was browsing and came across a new Stanley global reader, which doubled up as a badge holder and I had to have it. The problem with cac readers (until now) was that I always forgot it when I left my desk. Now that it's also a badge holder, I never forget it. I'm basically not allowed to forget it now. Great idea, very innovative. Everyone that needs a cac reader and has the same problem of forgetting it that I do, should get this product. FIVE STARS.

Had trouble reading card.
I am not sure why my DoD CAC card gave this reader a hard time. I had to press the card down and keep applying pressure in order for the reader to work.I have one of the new CAC cards (without SS#) so maybe they are thinner or something. I am returning this as it is obviously cumbersome to keep applying pressure while typing with one hand.I will say that installation was easy, and once I downloaded the DoD certificates (and changed my IE options) I had no problems accessing CAC login required websites. So the reader works, just not very well for my CAC card.

It's "OK" but there are better options for the same or less money
My CAC card seats pretty loosely in it, and sometimes I have to tap it or squeeze it together the CAC recognized on the computer. The cable is awkward, dangling like a heavy chuck of plastic on the back and below. I'd prefer a thicker card holder with the retractable bit embedded within it. It works. And maybe I got a bad one, but for the money there are other options I'd consider first before you bought this one.

CAC reader
I had mine for about a month until the holder got snagged and where the string connects to the holder broke. Once it broke it was useless and only good for a card reader. I think they need to beef up that area.
