Great variety with some cool surprises
The package came earlier than expected. While there were several duplicates of some coins (lots of euros and pesos), I received a good variety of coins from every continent. Most are from the 1980's to the 2010's, but I found one Dutchlund pfennig from 1950 and another coin, a frank, from 1941. I also found a coin from 1830. I have no idea where it's from. I have to do some research on that one.

A lot of duplicate coins
I received the package promptly, and I was excited to dig through them all. The coins were put all into one ziplock bag and then inside of the bubbled envelope. There were many coins that I had never seen before, and that was why I gave 4 stars. On the flip side, the coins of only three countries dominated the contents. Many of the same exact coins from the same countries were also minted in the same year. I don’t know how the company that fills these orders, but it doesn’t appear to be at random. For instance, there were about 60 coins that were from Aruba, and out of those 60, there was an even distribution between the 5, 10, and 25 cents denominations. There was some Japanese coinage that made up about 1/3 of the weight of the package, and they were the all exact same coin. There is no guarantee about finding no duplicates though, so I will not blame them. I received exactly what I ordered. It was still worth what I paid for, despite all of the duplication, because the hunting is half of the fun.

Expected some duplicates, man there were MANY!
This was my 2nd order, I hoped for a large variety of assorted coins, I was pleased with the variety I received on both orders I read the reviews about duplicates and have to agree that the enormous number of duplicates was in my opinion unacceptable. 30 mexican 1 paso coins, 51 new penny coins, 20 of the 20 centimes french coins, 25 - 2 new pence coins etc... 2 of the coins were chunks of contorted metal and 1 was a token. 1 lb = about 100 coins so I feel that I'm still owed another 1lb of coins to complete my orders.

Good stuff
What a fun way to spend the day. I'm a coin collector and bought this as a giveaway along with filling in some gaps in my own collection. There were some duplicates but many more coins which I did not already have. I liked that it had a mix of new coins along with some older ones. I was also surprised with two coins which were silver. It took me all day to go through and categorize them, and that is what makes it a good buy in my book. I seriously agree that this would make a great gift for a child interested in collecting or even a moderate collector.

Poor variety, not older and larger coins.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Advertised as older and heavier coins. It was at least half Mexican and Euro coins. There was one coin from 1945 the rest were 1970’s and newer and mostly in the 2000’s. There were a few larger coins but definitely not as described. Probably less than 20 countries, pretty low for 2lbs. I did get a few types that were not already in my collection. I do realize world coin lots are pretty random but, this was probably worst variety I’ve seen in all that I’ve purchased. The bag also broke open in shipping. Overall, I’m going back to other sellers I’ve purchased from in the past.

Excellent for children
I bought this set for a 12 year old boy who recently acquired an interest in metal detecting and coins. While it's important that the packet contain coins and not round metal things, the price for the quantity tells me 3 things: 1) this is a low-labor thing, no one hand-selected each coin for a proper mix and vetting whether it really is, say, a Russian coin and not a Russian meter token; 2) it's going to be heavy on smaller denominations, 3) there will be duplicates, because see 1).Some are very worn. Countries represented include Australia, England, Germany, Dominican Republic, and some far East country, I would say China or Japan but we can't tell. Many more countries too. Two of the coins are commemoratives; but they're the largest coins in the bunch, faux gold, and in very good shape, so all in all were a nice addition. As the other reviewer said, it wouldn't be my cup of tea, but after opening the present the boy spent over 3 hours studying and sorting the coins, replying 'maybe later' when I offered him a brownie and milk. To me, that means he liked it, and that's the goal.If you're buying this because you're hoping to find a coin you can sell to recoup the purchase price, it's the wrong reason. If you're buying because kids like a puzzle, will look up all the different countries on a map, and you want to support a new interest in coin collecting with something more spectactular than 3 lonely pennies costing $50, then this is beyond their wildest dreams.

Lots of fun & great variety!
If you're looking for a good starter collection of countries outside the US, this is a WONDERFUL selection. I like to collect coins and have traveled to a lot of countries, but that doesn't mean I have pocket change from every country I've visited. It also - obviously - doesn't mean that I have pocket change from the decades before my visit to certain places. There were a lot of coins from a lot of countries in this collection. I wasn't keeping track, but the earliest coin I remember was from 1937 from England. I had coins from Europe. Asia. Central and South America. A few from Africa. There were some duplicates, especially from the UK and Mexico. Still - I'd buy this one again if I wanted a general, starter group of coins. There's a good variety and lots of fun!
