Framing a Legend: Exposing the Distorted History of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings

A voice of calm rationality amidst all the strident woke insanity. James Fennimore Cooper phrased it perfectly in "The American Democrat" in 1838: "They say," is the monarch of this country, in a social sense. No one asks "who says it," so long as it is believed that "they say it." Designing men endeavor to persuade the publick, that already "they say," what these designing men wish to be said, and the publick is only too much disposed blindly to join in the cry of "they say." And so, this slander against Jefferson has somehow become truth. This fine volume is but one voice against a roar of defamation, but it is a pure and true voice.

Most of us with interest in genealogical DNA have long known that it is impossible to prove Thomas Jefferson was the father of any mixed breed children--unless his bones in good condition, his supposed mistress' bones, and his supposed child's bones---or some parts of each of them could be utilized for testing. All the present DNA tests showed is that some Jefferson was involved. Which Jefferson? Not old man Thomas. There were a number of male Jeffersons. Because of the former President's age and health-- sexual intercourse was not likely. Remember there was no viagra in those days. He was old; he was sick when his supposed last son was supposedly conceived. Most males back then died at age 40--all spent, old and worn out. Claiming Jefferson a Clinton may sell books and help some folks proudly claim themselves the offspring of someone very important--but proving paternity requires much more than propagandized beliefs of book writers and :"wanna be descendants." Those persons wanting to believe --will believe and will accept anyone's opinion as truth. Selling salacious lies puts big jingle into lots of pockets.

A great independent study that tackles the untruths of Monticello, Prof. Annette Gordon-Reed, Prof. Peter Onuf, Madison Hemings, Prof, Andrew Burstein, Prof. Ellen Lewis, Fawn Brodie and others distorting the real truth of the controversy.You should be very much concerned for truth because the above named distortthe truth and you may wish to contact those who distort and lie about our country's history and you should know who they are.Professor Andrew Holowchak is extremely knowledgeable of his subject and has spent much research to alert his fellow citizens of the danger of such unreputable reportings by those mentioned above.Read about how these people are contaminating your country's history. While I don't have a dog in this fight (i.e., I am interested in but agnostic about the TJ/Hemings liaison), this book - which is essentially a critique, and a very personal (at times, ad hominem, critique at that, of three authors who believe there was a liaison - is perhaps the least persuasive book I have ever read. Aside from his sophomoric attempt to impress the reader with his (or his Thesaurus') written vocabulary, Holowchak relies on some extremely poor logic and never gets around to confronting facts that tend to establish that there was a sexual relationship between TJ and Sally. Reading both this book and Annette Gordon-Reed's Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: An American Controversy, Ms. Gordon-Reed "wins" hands down. (And, BTW, I am a 68 year old white male. Again, I don't have a dog in this fight.)
