2017 CR-V Visors Fit Perfectly on my Honda 2018 CR-V. No Instructions.
Delivery of these KUST window visors was prompt, packaging was good, but there are no instructions whatsoever. I found a YouTube video but it shows installation of a version of the visors with hooks and clips. The visors I received only use adhesive tape (no clips). I ordered the 2017 Honda CR-V version to install on a 2018 Honda CR-V EX AWD. Everything I’ve read indicates there are no significant structural differences between the two model years. I did a fit check, and it looks good. It is VERY IMPORTANT to do a fit check before starting the job (see below). Some reviewers have found scratches and defects after installing the visors, so I removed the protective polystyrene bag from each of the four visors (one at a time so I didn’t mix up the bag labels) to check. I didn’t find any defects at all.HOWEVER, the bags are labeled “Left Front”, “Left Rear”, “Right Front” and “Right Rear”. When I performed the trial fit, sure enough, Left and Right are the opposite of my interpretation. I assumed you stand at the front grill facing the vehicle, and “Left” is your left, “Right” is your right, but these are just the opposite! Why aren’t they labelled “Passenger Side Front/Rear” and “Driver Side Front/Rear” to avoid any possible ambiguity? Maybe it’s Hong Kong where they use the British road orientation? Puhleese!I cleaned the chrome trim attachment surfaces on the CR-V with “rubbing alcohol” (dilute isopropyl alcohol), and the hair dryer is ready to preheat the adhesive tape, so here goes….Used the hair dryer to heat the chrome trim on the CR-V above the windows where the tape will attach. Also heated the adhesive tape on the visors. When peeling the protective strip, be careful not to pull the adhesive tape with it (I almost removed the adhesive tape with the protective strip a couple of times). There are short vertical strips of tape on the ends of each visor, so you’ll need to remove the protective strips completely before putting the visor in place. There are also two short strips at intermediate positions along the length of each visor, so remove those as well. Then remove the protective strip a few inches from each end of the visor and lightly press it into place. Check both ends of the visor for accurate positioning, but it’s pretty straightforward. Finish removing the long protective strips and press the visor into place. I applied pressure along the length of the visor starting in the middle and running the palm of my hand toward each end. Wait until last to press the short vertical strips at the end of each visor to allow for expansion. The first three visors went into place with no problem. For some reason, the rear window visor on the driver side makes a popping noise when I press it to ensure good adhesion. I tried repositioning it, applying more heat with the hairdryer, etc., but no matter what I do, it pops when I press on the chrome trim near each end. I’m afraid this indicates an imperfect seal, so I may have to apply some caulk. Weird that this is the only visor with this problem since it was the last one I installed, and I really thought I had the process down at that point. These KUST 2017 Honda CR-V visors are a perfect fit for my 2018 Honda CR-V EX AWD. (KUST needs to update their Amazon page to reflect this.) There were no visible flaws or defects, and they look really good. I’ll just have to see if they stay stuck, if there are any leaks, and how they hold up (see other reviewer complaints about deterioration of the visor chrome trim). I checked Amazon for alternatives, but the KUST visors had the best reviews I could find, and everyone said they were easy to install without professional help. I concur.
