Much better option than the lever float style.
Boat fuel tank. Is not effected by the constant movement caused by waves and boat rocking. I tried several lever type sending units, and they all failed the same way. Because of the constant action of the rocking back and forth and up and down in windy condition while on the water 2 things would happen. 1st the tank level. Would move up and down on the Guage during movement in wave motion and not give an accurate indication of fuel, and 2nd, the lever mechanism would break off at the tank flange and settle to the bottom of the tank and not indicate any fuel at all. This is my first try of this type. I've had this installed for nearly a year now and use the boat often, it has given me an accurate indication of fuel level and the fuel Guage no longer bounces all over the place in windy wave situations. Would I buy it again? I don't beleave at this point that I'll need to for this boat.

Didn’t work for my needs
The boat sending unit looks good and appears solid. On my gauge, it read backwards. With the float in the full position, the gauge read near empty. As the float dropped (as I was testing it) the fuel gauge rose.My only criticism is the lack of nuts for the screws. You either have to supply your own, or the tank has to be thick enough to tap the tank.I missed the return window as I was gathering parts for an overhaul, only to find that it wouldn’t work for me.As a bit of caution, make sure you know the resistance range (empty to full) required by your gauge set.

Well made sender
This sender should last a long long time. Joints contacting fuel are all heli-arc welded, so leakage should never be an issue. It works with magnetically actuated reed switches that are in series with fixed resistors. Magnet (in float) closes reed switches (highly reliable) connected through specific resistances as float travels.Reading at the display gage should be making step changes (not continuous) as fuel level changes. This is not a malfunction.
