Great mattress at a bargain price
This mattress replaced an 8 inch thick twin size memory foam mattress I've slept on for four years. It arrived in a roll, rolled lengthwise so it was width height. It's wrapped by two plastic straps over two layers of thick plastic that you carefully remove from the mattress. The mattress then unrolls and is still encased in a thinner plastic bag that is completely sealed all around. Mattress is about two inches thick at this point with the correct full size width and length. I removed the bag from the mattress and laid it on top of a box spring. It overhangs the box spring on each side by about half an inch. The mattress smells like any other new memory foam mattress. I don't mind the smell at all. In fact, I kinda like it.The mattress reaches its full thickness in 7-8 hours in a warm room. Since it was winter, I had my space heater on to keep the temperature in the bedroom at about 72º F after noticing it wasn't thickening as fast as I wanted the first three hours I had it. I keep my house at 65º F.The smell of the memory foam is almost gone after about 5 days. Some have said recovery is slow. Well, when memory foam is compressed, air is displaced. So if one has a lot of layers over the mattress, that's going to inhibit the flow of air back into the mattress for it to recover. In addition to the quality case that the mattress comes in, I have a mattress pad, 600 thread count fitted sheet and two comforters on the mattress, the recovery is slowed after I get out of bed. It's not slower than the Tempur-Pedic I used to sleep on. It recovers quickly if it is only in the case that it came in without the extra layers on top. This mattress is a bargain with 5 inches of memory foam. Even the original bed from TP is twice the cost of this full size mattress. And you don't get nearly the amount of memory foam until you reach about five times the cost, which is a rip off. This sleeps like a TP and feels like a TP that you'd try at Brookstone. I don't need the name brand since my sheets cover it anyway. Glad Amazon sells this. I found it to be slightly firmer than the Classic that I used to sleep on. I did notice that it measures about 11 inches thick, not the advertised 12". But I almost expected that. I love it and the money I saved.Update: After sleeping on this for two weeks, I really love it. Measuring the thickness now with my mattress pad, it measures 12" so it's only about a half inch shy of a foot. The smell is slight and only noticeable when I remove the covers to get in. So I'm going to miss it when it's finally gone since I like it and equate it as a new mattress smell. It's a firm bed. Men will probably prefer it more than women with curves. I'm a side sleeper and find it just right. If I end up on my back, I wake and then roll back to my side and fall asleep again.

Memory foam
I have to admit that this was one on-line purchase I was a bit leary of. Having made many purchases using Amazon, I was confident of a no hassle return, if needed. The mattress arrived rolled up, upon removing the packaging, it sprang to life. There was a "plastic smell" that was not noticable when I went to sleep, approx. 8 hrs later. It took a couple of hours for the mattress to reach the full 11". The mattress is FIRM, and took about a week for me to get used to. I have been using the mattress for about 6 weeks and I love it. I'm about 200 lbs and on disability for a bad back. I must say that morning stiffness and pain are gone. I sleep on my side, and the mattress does conform to my body. I really am very satisfied with this mattress. While researching this I noticed that some mattresses have 2 layers of foam, the top being 2-3" of softer material and the bottom being firmer. Someone who is used to a softer mattress might want to consider this. As far as Amazon is concerned they are one of the best e-tailers out there. I have purchased items ranging from $0.99 - $1000 and have only returned 2-3, cancelled many because I found a better price or the item was back-ordered and never had a problem.

Incredible Deal And My Sciatica Is Better
The mattress arrived in about a week, which for shipping a 90lb mattress from CA to the suburbs of Boston MA is perfectly acceptable. FedEx Ground is the cheapest way to ship and the only one that makes sense. There was a small tear in the plastic wrap and a corresponding dirt mark on the cover. Not a problem. I'm sure it will come out when I wash the cover. Mattress Shop did get my address slightly wrong which delayed delivery one day. I had it delivered to my office and they left off my company name. The delivery driver made no attempt to find me among the half dozen companies in my building. Since I had been tracking the package, when I saw the problem, I called FedEx and gave them the omitted company name. FedEx notified Sleep Shop when the mattress could not be delivered and Melanie from Sleep Shop called me the next morning and would have corrected the problem, had I not already done so.The mattress is rolled up and compressed. It's the width of the bed by about 18 inches across. It's awkward to carry. Better done by two, but I hauled it into my third floor condo with some effort. Set up is easy and it is cool to watch the mattress expand. There is a smell, but it did not bother me at all and already seems to have dissipated.I've never slept on a foam mattress before and it is incredible. With my lower back supported, I wake up with no stiffness. I've only slept on it for two nights, but I'm already used to it. I can understand what some have said about the mattress being warm to sleep on. My AC is usually on from late Spring to Fall since I dislike high humidity. I dont think it will be a problem. I am going to buy a mattress pad since removing and washing the mattress cover looks like I will be a major hassle. That should keep things cooler. As someone who planned on spending $800 or so on a spring mattress and ended up with memory foam for half that, I am ecstatic.
