The 1000/6000 5-in-1 for $10 is a bargain
There are a lot of similar options on Amazon, but this one is very nice and one of the cheapest that I found. The bamboo/wooden base has a rubber pad on the bottom that keeps the stone from sliding around. The 1000 and 6000 sides are definitely different. The stones themselves are porous and bubble when you soak them prior to use. They have a strange texture and actually wear away a bit when using them. The 20° angle aid is nice, but it doesn’t work for an of the curved knives.

good product but....
The honing stones are very good quality and the bamboo holder along with the rubber sleeves make the process a breeze. The price is very good and they arrived fairly quickly and in good shape. The reason I am giving this poor review is because of the flattening stone. It is very small and practically worthless. When the seller said a flattening stone was included, I expected it to be the size of a normal flattening stone. Honing stones need to be flattened when they come from the factory and before every knife sharpening. The flattening stone included from this seller is so small it is practically worthless. To list a flattening stone in the description is very close to false advertising. If you purchase this product from this seller expect to have to purchase a normal sized flattening stone.Pros:1. Price is very attractive2. Stones are well marked for grit size3. Bamboo base and rubber holders make sharpening a breezeCon:The flattening stone is so small it is practically worthless.

Lots of items
I'm a beginner in the sharpening game so this was perfect for me had it for several months now and everything is goid. The honeing jig for chisels and planes is a lil cheap. Got to work at it to be sure your chisels are sitting right but hey it's a cheap set. I still use the jig just gotta watch it so it don't mess up your carving tools by sharpening at wrong angle.

Quality product, Excellent customer service
I have been using a Chef’s Choice 3-stage electric sharpener. The $150 electric sharpener does a good job, and is very easy to use, but it doesn’t work well on a few thin and razor-sharp Japanese slicing / carving knives. So I decided to try this set.The stones appear to be of good quality. The rubber frames fit in the bamboo base very well. The base is solid and non-slippery. My knives are still quite sharp and do not require the use of the 400/1000 stone. So far, I have only used the 3000/8000 stone to sharpen the knives. It is easy to use and produces razor-sharp edges on my 15-degree knives. Also, to my pleasant surprise, the seller provided excellent customer service to resolve a minor issue.

Not bad for the money
The stones were great. The included honing guide isn't great and in my case wasn't really even usable. The course stone that's also for flattening the stones was curved and utterly useless. All that said, with a couple inexpensive diamond stones ( one course one to flatten and true the Waterstones) and I was able to use this set to get RAZOR sharp knives an chisels. So because of these to points I knocked off 2 stars, since the flattening/course stone was important and not usable. Otherwise, it's a great starter set for the money with a little help.

It works, but you get what you pay for.
First off, this will definitely sharpen knives, chisels, and plane irons. This was my first kit and I was able to get a very fine edge on my kitchen knives and woodworking tools. The kit comes with zero instructions, but a quick YouTube tutorial was enough to get started. Now for the negatives. One of the blocks arrived chipped on one of the corners. Not a huge deal since I could work around it, but it forces me to use shorter strokes on that stone. The "flattening" stone is a joke. Mine was bowed very badly which makes it completely unusable for the purpose of restoring a flat surface to the whetstones.A couple of the stones (400 and 3000) had some visible impurities in it. Not sure if it affected the consistency of the stones, but it makes me want to avoid using these whetstones for sharpening anything I actually care about.Overall this kit served it's intended purpose for me which was to get a cheap starter kit to practice my sharpening skills and restore a sharp edge to my knives and tools.

Good all-in-one kit that’ll get you started
This is a good selection of the stones and “accessories” needed to sharpen up a knife nicely. The flat and strap leather is a nice addition, as is the wooden base (the stones have their own rubber base) and flattening stone (this is something you’ll appreciate after using it a few times). I think the cut-resistant gloves are more trouble than they’re worth (just be careful)… but I happened to need a pair for something else, so that’s cool. These probably aren’t the world’s most amazing whetstones, but for the the price, they’re great. They will make your knifes sharp AF. There are a LOT of kits just like this on Amazon. I bought this one because it was the cheapest one with the high-grit stone, the flattening stone, and the leather strop at the time I purchased.

they work great
I wish they had come with some polishing compound for the leather strop.

My dull knife has become new
I wanted to buy a new knife at first, but soon I changed my mind to buy this whetstone becuase it seems more environmentally sustainable and also financially. Instead buying new knives over and over again, I can instantly sharpen my favourite knives whenever I need to. As a first-time user, it wasn't too easy, but my dull and old sandoku knife has become very sharp again anyways. Finding the right angle of the knife to sharpen and keeping that angle consistently while moving back and forth were chalanging, but I believe that my skill could be improved over times. The finishes and details of all items such as wooden base, rubber frame(?), little finishing stone, and instruction are nice and clean. The price and review rates are also competitive compared to others.Highly recommended!

Whetstone sharpening has changed my life..
I was sceptical when purchasing this stone, after watching numerous YouTube videos I convinced myself that getting the angle wrong will completely ruin the knife..I gave it a quick whirl on a knife that has seen better days and was so blunt I thought it was unsaveable. As you can see from the pics before and after, it has turned out great, bearing in mind this is my first time.Getting the angle on the blade is difficult, especially for me, the guide they provide was slightly difficult to use and kept catching as you make passes. In the end I had to remove it and guess the angle manually which is difficult especially maintaining after each pass.Overall I am happy I manage to bring this knife back to life around 60% I will need to attempt this again and get a few chips out of it to perfect it.
