Money Problems, Marriage Solutions
You know what I like about Chuck Bentley? He doesn't "speak down" to people. His approach to finances is very down-to-earth-every-man-can-relate, rather than lofty and "Ya gotta have the money before these principles can apply." There is no ridicule or criticism or guilt inducing poundinginvolved in his presentations. He's clear, directional, encouraging, and the kind of writer that makes me feel that I would be comfortable in a sit down conversation with him. I initially checked it out at the library, but quickly discovered I wanted to underline for reference purposes, so I figured I'd better go ahead and get my own copy. I'm only halfway through the book, but I can say adamantly that it is worth the read. May it be a blessing to whoever chooses to purchase this book.

A Great, Fast Read
WHY I CHOOSE THIS BOOKAlthough my life is busy right now, I know in all likelihood it will just get busier. Therefore, it seems like a rather logical idea to read marriage books now, even though I'm not married. (And that's a disclaimer, folks: I'm not married, nor am I in a relationship, hence all my thoughts about this book come from the perspective of a single person.) Plus, I've always found relationship (of any kind) oriented books to be really interesting because I like the psychology aspect of why people do what they do, etc... Last of all, I've come to the realization that I've not spent a lot of time learning about money, budgeting, and everything that entails, so I've been working on learning about it. WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BOOKJust reading the table of contents is enough to give you a boatload of things to think about. Key Two is about Grasping the Biblical Definition of Prosperity, Key Four is about Living By God's Philosophy of Money, Key Five is about Understanding and Respecting Your Spouses Personality, and the list goes on. Even as a single person I've heard over and over again from people, books, and media, how much contention money can cause in a marriage. People are raised with their own "culture" regarding money and finances and often times they don't realize how truly different their ideas can be compared to their spouses. This book is written by a husband and wife team who know firsthand about the trouble money can cause in a marriage. The first twenty years of their marriage were filled with strife, misunderstandings, and miscommunications when it came to the arena of finances. Through the pages of Money Problems, Marriage Solutions, we get to explore the seven keys they discovered to help them overcome their problems and align their hearts - and finances - so they could work together as a team. Reading this book was a breeze. Although I (obviously) am not in a position to work through money issues with my spouse, I still found the advice and examples they gave to be very interesting and logical. I liked how they talked about the heart of the matter (which is making sure that your lives are in sync with each other and where God has you), instead of just giving material tips of how to work things out. CONCLUSIONThis is one of the books that I want to keep around so I can re-read it when I'm married because it seems like it will be very helpful in a relationship. RatingI’m giving Money Problems, Marriage Solutions 4 out of 5 stars.((This book was provided by the publisher in exchange for me reviewing it, all thoughts and opinions are my own.))

This book is a must read for couples who want to make an eternal impact with their money and love their spouse in a deeper way
"Your marriage is not the cause of your financial struggles, it is actually the solution," explains Chuck and Ann Bentley in their new book, "Money Problems, Marriage Solutions." This mindset is completely opposite to what so many married people today think, and emphasizes the importance of the Gospel as the foundation of marriage as the means to for couples to live at peace with each other in the realm of finances. Unlike most books which seek to give a series of steps and plans to help couples find unity with money, the Bentleys first encourage couples to focus on the heart of their marriage and their relationship with God, and to see Scripture not our individual preferences as our guidebook for financial decisions and struggles. As a newly married couple with our first baby, money often causes conflict in our marriage and this book provided a paradigm shift for me in how my heart approaches money and how God intended us to use our money as a couple to further His kingdom instead of fighting over it. The book provides online resources to use to examine our beliefs towards money and individuals in light of God's Word, and many practical applications. This book is a must read for couples who want to make an eternal impact with their money and love their spouse in a deeper way. A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher for the purpose of review.

Financial Wisdom for Everyone
This is a great resource for couples who are looking to gain unity in the area of finances. Chuck, with the help of his wife Ann, outlines very specific areas regarding finances that couples are not always in agreement on. I was very encouraged by the detailed explanations and stories in this book, because they show that no couple is beyond the point of improving their financial relationship, and ,in the process, improving their marriage overall. I wish I had this book when I married my husband almost 30 years ago; we could have avoided a lot of stress that resulted from our very different financial philosophies.
