I Know Why Mama Cried: A Memoir

This is an excellent written book and a easy read. The intricate details are so great until it makes you not want to give up reading it even to go to the restroom. I have never encountered a memoir where so many of the not so good experiences were displayed. Many times memoirs are written to make everything appear to have been heavenly sent. This memoir lays it all out on the table where it made me feel like I was actually there reliving every experience. I felt the fun times and the pain. I prayed, laughed and cried when reading many of the scenarios of this family’s life. The book left me thankful for the many blessings that I had when growing up that I hadn’t always thought about or appreciated. I can’t wait to read more in Book II.

A testament to the resilience of the human spirit when the belief in good is stronger than the despair. I grew up with the authors and was well aware of a lot of things in the book but there are things I wasn't aware of not living in that household. I do know the authors are strong in faith and strong of character. They are heroes in the best sense of the word! Follow their story and be amazed with the capacity of the human spirit to survive and thrive!

This book was very knowledgeable. You get the insight of two women who go through a very rough childhood and it is the story of their life. I recommend reading this book. Can not wait to see what comes in the next book!

The authors did really well with telling their story in a way that was enlightening and engaging. The message to keep preserving in life was inspirational and heartfelt. The added in scripture was a nice and encouraging touch to the memoir.
