KEENWomen's Astoria West Sandal

I love these Keen walking sandals. I'm used to Keen (Clearwater, Moxie etc). These Astoria ones are especially comfortable and seem almost padded. I seem to 'bounce' along with them. For some reason, this time I struggled finding a size of Keen to fit (I have narrow feet and certain styles fit me better). These are great though as they come in 1/2 sizes too (not easy to find), so I chose 5.5 They fit like a glove. They are a little wider at the toe part but I really like that as they don't feel 'pinched' when walking distance. I have seen other reviews and agree that they seem a little strange when wearing them and looking down at them; the inner heel looks a little strange and seems to stick out a bit (see photo) but I'm not going to be walking and looking down at them! They fit perfectly and I am really happy with them. A little pricey but honestly, you can't put a price on comfort, especially for your feet; they carry you everywhere! Highly recommended.

I purchased these shoes for a trip to Asia where I would be doing lots of walking and and ideally needed something more substantial, supportive and 'trainer-like' than my hiking sandals. I also needed something that would also be very breathable in a hot and humid climate. These Keen Astoria West shoes, with their opened sided design, were perfect!Having researched the brand, I found out Keen has a good reputation for adventure shoes, sandals, hiking boots. I choose the Astorias as they are lightweight, and have a nice feminine design with a slight heel elevation, and are waterproof. Also they come in a great range of colours and look pretty stylish for this type of shoe.After my trip, I can confirm these Astorias are great! I ​wore them all day on flat and hilly gravel trails, through forests and on the beach. The hybrid design is like hiking sandals and trainers had a baby! The moment I put them on they were comfortable. The stretchy and soft scuba-like fabric on the inside of the shoe ensures there is nothing to rub. I saw another reviewer said they kind of feel like wearing a combination of a shoe and sock - which I'd say is a good, accurate description!The fit is easily adjustable with the innovative elastic lacing structure - which makes them super fast to slip on and off. This is also great if your feet tend to swell up or shrink down in changing temperatures as you can quickly adjust fit on the move. The overall fit is true to size, however if you are between sizes or not sure, I'd say go up half a size to be safe.The shoes are very lightweight, reducing aching legs and ensuring they don't add to much to luggage weight limits when flying. I confirm they are waterproof having worn them in the sea and through streams. They dried well and I also understand they can go in the washing machine (haven't tried this yet, but I'm confident they will be fine).Finally, the rubber sole and toe cap is great for grip and protecting the toes - which is so needed on rugged trails! However, one point I should add is that if you are looking to do some proper, steep, technical hiking you will still need to invest in some proper hiking boots with ankle support - these Astorias are not a substitute for that (however they will make a useful edition to your adventure shoe collection)! I'd say they are great for long days on your feet, walking in the summer or in hot climates on moderate terrain.I hope you find this review helpful, I certainly love these shoes and will be looking to purchase more Keen footwear in the future.

I ordered these for an upcoming trip to SE Asia where I will be doing some sightseeing, snorkeling and trekking. I wanted something practical that could also be worn in the water to minimise the shoes I was packing. I chose these as I suffer from sore feet and legs through various medical ailments, and appreciate some arch support in my shoes. I didn't have high expectations for closed toe sandals to look great, however, I was delighted when these arrived looking similar to some of my athletic trainers, and feeling just as comfortable. The bungee straps are fully adjustable for wider feet like mine, and the fit is true to the size chart. I normally wear a 3-4UK depending on the brand and ordered a 3.5UK as the chart matched my measurements. My feet fill the entire footbed with approx 1/4 of an inch space in the toe box - perfect fit! I have been watching various keen sandals for price changes and managed to snap these up for £33 - an absolute bargain. I'll also be able to wear them for work on our very limited Scottish hot summer days where I require a closed toe shoe for safety reasons, and for gentle hill walks. I'll be keeping an eye out for more bargains from this brand. I can't comment on the durability but Keen are a well respected brand so I expect they will last. I will definitely be buying more.

only thing i didnt like was the price. very rxpensive for what they were but fit was great for me as i have narrow feet which slip forwrd in most sandles.

I have had surgery on my feet and they are a weird shape so I struggle to find footwear that fits - these are perfect, good width and plenty of adjustment. This colour was the cheapest on offer, too light for me but not wanting to miss a bargain I oiled them with neatsfoot oil upon arrival and they have gone a gorgeous tan colour.

Hardly take them off, these are so comfortable, arch support is fantastic as well as the bit of height from the wedge. Fit felt snug at first but it was just I needed to figure out the right settings for the laces. Love them.

Comfortable but small sized

I have very narrow feet and was dreading that these sandals would flap around and give me blisters during a dusty trek in a hot climate. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the elastic laces could be tightened up to fit my feet and were cool and comfortable to wear whilst scrabbling around on rocks, gravel, and water. They were certainly fit for purpose!

I am always leary of buying name brands with the exception of my running shoes. The Keens surprised me. These are sturdy and offer great support. You can wear without socks. They are durable. These can be worn everyday. No blisters. True to size.

I love that these are light weight and very comfortable. I used them them while swimming in salt water just by Cayo Coco, Cuba. Comfort is important. I highly recommend these.. You need to be a bit careful though if you use them at the beach. Sand can get caught between the straps and inside and rub on your toes and cause blisters. That is common though with any shoe/sandal. They do smell a bit when they get wet. Apparently this is common with some Keen sandals. The Keen website indicates to wash with them them with mild detergent in cold water on a gentle cycle in the washing machine. Then, air dry your sandals out of direct sunlight.
