One of my favorite foods is pimento cheese but it has to be homemade. Due to arthritis in my hands it had gotten impossible for me to use my mouli grater. Pre-shredded cheese doesn't incorporate well at all. I saw an add for this somewhere and decided to check it out. It looked promising and wasn't very expensive so I ordered it. It works like a dream!Here are some tips:I use one 8oz of sharp cheddar and one 8oz of extra sharp cheddar. That takes a large bowl which will not fit under the hopper. I attach the grater to the very edge of the counter and put the bowl in the sink under it.The first time I used it, it clogged and I had to dig out the cheese. I decided to use very little pressure on the plunger (don't know what it's actually called) and it was great. It then shredded finely and came out like it was supposed to.I have found that it's easier to clean if you let it sit and dry out then take a bottle brush and brush it out before putting it in the dishwasher.

My mother had a solid metal one when I was growing up, but they're too expensive for me at this point in time. As I used this shredder, I realized the more I pushed a block of cheese from the top, as I turned the wheel, the grater sounded like it was scraping the clear plastic barrel. Not only that, but the barrel is not angled enough to let the cheese just fall into a bowl. The weight of the cheese just collected in the grater barrel and i had to keep stopping in order to finish 1 block of 80z cheddar cheese.... It took the same amount of time, if not more to use this product as a plain rectangular or flat grater. Also the cleaning is a pain, because there are more parts to take apart. :( Next time, I'll invest in the solid steel grater or maybe a hand mandolin.... A positive is that I didn't have to worry about cutting my knuckles or fingers, but I'm sure I could have achieved the same feeling of satisfaction with a mandolin..... :/

This doesn't seem super-durable, but it's held up well so far. It does exactly what I want it to do - shreds cheese and not my knuckles!! I'm not a super patient person so I end up grating very quickly and almost always get myself in the process. This was such a good purchase for me. The main clear plastic 'body' of the grater had a piece at the bottom pop off after only 3-4 uses, but I don't even know what it was there for. To me it would have just trapped in moisture after washing so good riddance. The handle also has popped off a few times as there is just a plastic 'button' holding it together, but it seems fine now? Overall I would definitely recommend this as it has cut my prep time down significantly!

Last about seven months with just minimal weekend shredding of frozen vegetables.The handle started splitting at the seam after a couple of months of weekend use, causing the handle to disconnect from the grinder while in use. If not careful, this will lead to your hand flying uncontrolled and hitting against nearby objects like the counter top.It was late to return, or ask for a refund, so used epoxy to glue the two handle parts back together. Appears the manufacturer either didn't use enough adhesive, or not the correct strength.The cylinder's base next broke apart in various locations. The first batch of epoxy I used to repair didn't help too long. The clear plastic is recycle symbol 7, so idk if device this is BPA free, or not. If the hardware store doesn't have something to repair, then I'll purchase someone else's device that states BPA free.

I couldn't wait to get this based on all the 5* reviews. We were in the middle of making a salad when we received it. We quickly washed it and put it to use. It did have good suction and stayed firmly on our countertopI only used the slicing blade to slice fresh cucumbers and green peppers, so cannot speak for its shredding capabilities or slicing other vegetables.We keep the skin on our cucumbers for extra nutrition. Well this slicer decided to remove the skin and made a mess of the cucumber. It didn't slice evenly--thicker on one side and paper thin on the other side, with the skin separated. We then tried to slice green pepper and had the same problem--it removed the skin from the green pepper and extracted the juice. We didn't try slicing anything else because we were too disappointed and knew we could get more done the old fashioned way--slicing with a sharp knife!When I took it apart, I looked at the slicing blade. I don't think it is sharp enough. And guess what? One side of the slicing blade opening is bigger than the other side, which causes the uneven slices. We are returning it.

I purchased this on a whim. I really needed the item, but did not want to pay for a very expensive model because it would be used mostly by my children to learn to cook. I also wanted something I could shred bar soap with to make laundry soap. My assumption was, because of the low price, that it would last approximately 3 weeks. Well this is a great little number, works well and is easy to assemble and use. It has not broken yet and frankly, that is a miracle. Love the color, love the ease of use and clean up. Seller was a peach who sent it out right away and well wrapped.

The crank piece doesn’t always stay on either even after locking into place. It alsoMakes a terrible grinding squealingNoise when cranking. If this product was tweaked it could be great.

My son likes to eat french fries so I would often make him some out of cheese and potatoes. I was reluctant to use the machine at first because I was scared that I wouldn’t know how to use it properly. It turns out to be a great help and cuts vegetables very quickly. The three blades can be used in different ways. The bottom sucker holds the product tightly to the table. After use, it is easy to open and clean. With its help, my son can now eat clean food at home.
