Q: I am totally perplexed. The ingredients do not list any added sugar or sweetener of any kind, yet it says 8 g added sugar on the nutritional info. ???

Hi there! We do not directly add any sugar whatsoever to our oat milk. However, the FDA recently declared that hydrolysis - the process of turning oats into "oat milk" - counts as "added sugar." Hydrolysis is a natural process that breaks apart a bigger molecule in combination with water into smaller molecules - it allows our organic oat flour to break down enough to mix well with water and make a smooth, creamy organic oat milk. Hydrolysis of oats now has to be declared as “added sugars” because it creates sugar in the process of breaking down the oats. Currently, the regulations are different for traditional dairy. The same sugars are also present in dairy milk, as sugar is created through the enzymatic hydrolysis of dairy products, but according to FDA regulations, traditional dairy milk producers do not have to declare it as “added sugars” on the label. So, dairy milk options frequently have just as much sugar as non-dairy milk options, but are labeled differently

Q: How does this compare to califia and oatly? i’m very particular with oat milk because the other ones i’ve tried were too sweet.

Califia to me was watery and not as much flavor & I find it to be creamier overall than Oatly

It's so disgusting, who cares? I threw every bit i bought in the trash. Undrinkable.
