Gain a thorough understanding of First Communion
Well written and patient in its "voice," this book celebrates the beauty of the Roman Catholic Faith and Tradition. The author was clearly concerned that children should have as full an understanding as possible of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. A few of her words and phrases must be explained to a modern young student, but overall, Mother Mary Loyola chooses apt examples and stories to make her points about the seriousness and magnificence of Holy Communion with God. I highly recommend her book as a supplement to whatever other texts one uses. In fact, I have gained better insight and more food for meditation in my own prayer life.

Language is too archaic
This book, written in the late 1800s and re-published, would be an excellent book if it were revised/updated. The language was very hard for my 8 year-old to understand (as I was reading it aloud), and I found myself constantly having to stop and explain the expressions and words to her, or pause and try to substitute a more common or understandable one. This book might be good for an older child that has already made first communion to help him/her appreciate the Eucharist more fully, but not for your average 7 or 8 year old.

One of our favorite resources
Our children and I truly enjoy this book as part of our home course for Sacrament preparation. The readings are a little longer and more intellectual than some of the other books we also use, but there is such interesting information that has led to lively discussions and flourishing of faith and grace.

Not useful. Stick to your paper copy!
Not useful at all! It is only a photocopy of the book and you can not navigate properly. I would like to be able to have the kindle read it to me and it will not. At the very end it advertises something Disney.
