After more than 15 years together, by the summer of 1976 The Band was approaching its end. This superb concert, performed at a 4,000-seat arena on a warm Saturday night, captures them in terrific form as they play a cross-section of their remarkable back catalog shortly before their final appearance at the legendary "Last Waltz" on Thanksgiving weekend the same year.

Legit release??
So, good recording, clean and balanced sound, great band, obviously. Track one, with Levon's drum kickoff is one of the surest demonstrations of his genius for half-time, backbeat driven music. All that said, not sure I want to be recommending it, because it certainly appears to be a bootleg. Not sure what else to call it, but I've certainly never heard of Keyhole records before. It makes an attempt to appear to be a legit release and maybe it is. Is it really the Carter Barron show? Who knows; anybody??

I love this. Robbie is up in the mix so you get a different perspective on his compositions. Usually he is burried and you cant quite make him out. On this raw superb recording it is like he is the solo instrument. I highly recomend this cd.

A great radio broadcast recording.
For being a concert recorded for radio broadcast this is a very impressive recording. Recorded in Washington DC about 3 months before the Last Waltz concert, this show features the Band without any support musicians, and so you are getting the real Band at their peak. A truly worthwhile disk to own if you are a fan of the band.

THE Band indeed......
I wasn't even aware of this live recording until very recently. This phenomenal performance took place within months of their last ever outing with all 5 original members and a host of their famous friends at the Last Waltz. But this is just The Band, unadorned by brass sections or anything else. The late George Harrison, a major Band admirer once called Levon, Garth, Rick, Richard and Robbie "the greatest band in the universe". Not bad from a member of The Beatles. Wonderful clear sound, passionate playing and magnificent songs. What a package! Very highly recommended!

Don't Hesitate to Purchase
I hesitated to buy this because Rock of Ages is my favorite Band album. Took a chance and made the purchase anyway because it was sans horns and previous reviews indicated that it was a decent live recording. I agree. Very much so. Band fans will definitely enjoy this cd.

Must for Band fans.
A radio concert from the last tour with all five. I saw this tour, with only one song exchanged. The Band have a lot of high-quality live stuff issued, but hardcore fans will want to have it. They're are also a lot of terrible Band bootlegs, but the sound here is quite good.

Just Like When I Heard The Band in '71
This is about as great a live performance as I've heard from The Band. I saw them at McCormick Place in Chicago in 1971 and this brings it all back for me. Excellent versions of "It Makes No Difference" and "Ophelia." Sound quality is very good.

Love this Album!
I love having this concert with only The Band performing (no horn section or guests). Richard Manuel's vocals are heartbreaking.

A great live show
A great live show. The Band was in top form. Everything is so tight yet still has the feel of a group playing just for the love of it.Even if you have these songs on other albums its still worth getting. Ranks right up there with "Rock of Ages" and "the Last Waltz".

Really enjoyed them again!
I really enjoyed this live collection from a favourite group of mine. It has many that I already owned on other albums, but this live performance does add a good source to my collection.

Great present for any Band fan.
Was a present for my dad, who is a huge Band fan. He didn't know this was out. He loved it. Can't ask for more than that.

THE BAND!!
