Great read!
I think I’ve read just about every series involving Scottish time traveling. This book is my favorite of all. I love stories that aren’t only the female going to the past, but characters coming to the future as well. This book won’t disappoint.

Playing against all odds...
What a thoroughly delightful and fascinating concept for a plot and one I personally found completely intriguing and entertaining. This particular story of time travel told in a whole new and original version was another well developed, solid effort with great attention to detail by Ms. Longley. I loved these characters! This second installment of the Loch Moigh series is not as "fun" as the first installment True to the Highlander (The Novels of Loch Moigh Book 1)  and is more of a serious nature. There is no humor as we found in book #1...and if I've learned anything from the many, MANY time travel romances I've read, it's that there is much more excitement and entertainment to be had when someone travels to the past, than there is when someone travels to the future. At least for me...An adventurer at heart, 24 yr. old Robley MacKintosh (cousin to Malcolm from book True to the Highlander (The Novels of Loch Moigh Book 1) ), is bored with life. He craves excitement and does NOT want to "settle down" and take a wife as his father suggests. He's not ready to settle into his predestined role within his Clan. He wants a family of his own some day, but not without love. No arranged marriage for him! Robley is a good and kind hearted Scottish Warrior. He's sometimes intense and other times happy-go-lucky. He has an overall good nature and a natural optimism about him. He laughs, jokes and smiles all the time flashing those gorgeous dimples. He has long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. He's a real charmer...She's intelligent, warm, sensitive and compassionate. Erin Durie is gifted - - she can sense or "read" what a person needs (physical ailments) before they speak their need. Her touch settles people as she has a healing touch about her. She's only capable of easing pain and discomfort and she can calm overwrought nerves or anxiety. She's an OB/GYN nurse and midwife. Erin is quite beautiful with her sparkling emerald green eyes and her long honey blonde hair. And with all her attributes, Erin is a wounded soul going through her life alone while helping others, but refusing any serious relationships. She's built enormously thick walls around her heart. She does not believe in love or "happily ever after".This story had all the elements of a solid Historical Romance with a bit of serious (but mild) drama on the side. Even though it is nothing like the first book True to the Highlander (The Novels of Loch Moigh Book 1)  in way of humorous situations, it nevertheless was so well thought out and developed and this Author, once again, puts so much attention to every detail. Ms. Longley weaves an intriguingly serious and captivating story using a well played foundation. Strong characters are described perfectly and reinforced throughout the story leaving no doubt nor confusion as to why these beloved characters react (in certain serious situations) as they do. Dialogue is original to each era, witty and again, brilliant; flowing succinctly with perfect precision and timing. There are many lessons to be learned by our H/h... Counting your blessings...realizing just how fortunate you are with what you already possess. Being thankful for your family & of course learning to fully place your trust in another, and so on. It was so wonderful to have our endearing previous characters from book#1 True to the Highlander (The Novels of Loch Moigh Book 1)  incorporated into this story. Brava Ms. Longley. Encore!

A Delightful Read
I absolutely adored Book One (True Highlander) in this series and was looking forward to this with eager anticipation. And while I liked this book, I think it fell short of my expectations. That isn't to say I wasn't entertained or that the author didn't write a good story. Because she did. Ms. Longley is an exceptionally talented author and deserves praise for a job well done. This was a well written book that had great characters and an amazing setting. I only feel that this wasn't what I had expected after reading the first in the series. Why?A number of reasons, one of them being the idea of a historical person existing in present times. While I was looking forward to having one of the clan members visit the present, it didn't excite me as much as I thought it would. Certainly not like the opposite did--when a modern day person careened into the past. It just isn't that terribly exciting to read about a girl explaining modern day marvels to a 15th century night. It wears thin--fast. I far prefer the fantasy of learning about the past, hence why I write and read historicals. I like the escapism, and in this book, I had to wait until half-way through to get it.The plot also felt a little contrived. That Robley fell into a midwife's arms while True was expecting and near the end of her term? Yeah...I was willing to overlook it, but then when she travels into the past with vaccinations and well--it was feeling way too goody-goody and perfect. There was nothing to keep me on the edge of my seat. The anticipation of the faerie's return was not even all that tense...and sadly, neither was the romance.Again, I felt that Robley and Erin just didn't have the spark and the tension that True and Malcom did in the first book. I have a vast appreciation of both beta and alpha heroes, but Robley was almost too sweet and too beta. Robley practically professes his love in the first quarter of the book, and there was nowhere to go from there. Maybe if I hadn't just come off reading about alpha Malcom in Book One and his raw sexual tension, I would have appreciated Robley's uber sweet personality and the way he fell so quickly in love with Erin. But because I did just read about the sizzle of True and Malcom, I was disappointed by Robley and Erin. This book is certainly worth a read, despite my minor disappointments. The story is fun, and unique with the fantasy/paranormal twist. I love the fae references and the setting of Medieval Scotland cannot be surpassed. I also really enjoyed revisiting with the characters from the prior book. I am definitely looking forward to the third book in this trilogy!

Brilliant and charming - amusing too
Okay, so it's a time travel novel and you have to totally suspend disbelief, not only around travelling in time but also understanding. Fifteenth century Scottish is after all a completely different language to 21st century American, but everyone understands each other and nobody bats an eyelid! But it doesn't matter because the story is engaging and charming. Amusing too. Who'd have guessed that Rob would love pizza and Harley Davidsons! Rob and Erin are beautifully written and you can't help but believe in their friendship and growing love. The Fae are suitably enigmatic and to be steered clear of at all costs, although you wouldn't have a story without them. I thoroughly enjoyed the first in Barbara Longley's Loch Moigh series - True and Malcolm's story, this one was just as good and I can't wait to get started on Hunter's story.

Brilliant bargain!
Loved the 2nd book of this series. The Plot was well written and really held my attention, it was hard to put down. Not often a fan of time travel romance stories, I confess to being drawn to this author's work. Wonderful taleWell portrayed characters, totally believable and engaging. They were so appealing you just wanted them to have a happy ending.Great to catch up with some of the characters who were in the previous book of the series.Buy this book you'll enjoy it, perhaps you could read the first book to get the best of the story.

Subtle inconsistencies but still a good story
I debated whether to rate it 3 or 4 starts. There were inconsistencies in the story like True's apartment and bank account still being available after she'd "disappeared" 3 years earlier and Robley originally being given two crystals - one to go to the future and one to get back yet Erin ends up with two. However, because I found the characters very engaging, the basic storyline well paced made and entertaining which me want to read more I went with four.

Wonderful escapism
This is the second in the Loch Moich series and having thoroughly enjoyed the first couldn't wait to download this one. Unlike the first book it is set in both the past and the present which I loved. The characters we met in the first book are back plus a few new ones. All are fully rounded and believable. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys time travels.
