Affordable, easy to use scanner.
I’m not a mechanic. Just a guy who likes to work on my own vehicles. I own a few code readers. This is my first real scanner. I’m very impressed with the scanners bi-directional controls for the price. I now have almost the same abilities as a professional shop right in my own garage. It even has the ability to record and display images and videos with a connected boroscope camera. It can also output the display to a HDMI connected monitor. A built in browser to find info on code setting criteria from websites like Mitchell and Alldata and more, and with the option to connect to the scanner remotely I can let someone else control the scanner connected to my vehicle from anywhere. 1 year free updates for all makes. I counted 88 Manufacturers on six pages in the scanner. I’m pretty sure that’s more than I’ll ever need. This is the most expensive tool I own but two or three diags it will have paid for itself.

Extremely versatile tool for diagnosing check engine lights
This is an extremely versatile tool for diagnosing that pesky check engine light. The Android interface is very intuitive and easy to use. It contains a MASSIVE catalog of cars. It took some time to download the updates, but it even included codes for SAABs! If it's a car that was ever made, it's here!In order for the Autel to get Software Updates the following outbound TCP ports must be opened on your Router or Firewall if you block non-standard ports. Ports 8883, 9600, 9700.Their customer service is excellent as well. I would highly recommend this device - you get a lot of bang for your buck!

UPDATE: Inexperienced user here.
First thing - I was disappointed in registration. Seriously. Create account, verify email, add device. Fail repeatedly. The scripts don't work as expected - Autel needs to simplify the page so that it actually WORKS! I had to get tech support to finish registration. There's a learning curve. I'm pretty good with computers, and I've used Android enough to know my way around. But, there is a learning curve. The menus aren't really intuitive, and it took me several tries to get where I needed to be. As with any operating system or any software, I'll grow more familiar with use.Functionality? That is out of this world. Seriously - I've worked on my own cars all my life. I bought an Autel Maxilink ML629 years ago, because some things you just can't figure out, without such a tool. Today - vehicles are more complex, and that old 629 just can't do some things that need to be done.In an afternoon, this MK808Z earned about 30% of it's worth, maybe more. Stupid check engine like just wouldn't go away, and the 629 couldn't get deep enough into the system to figure out why. With the MK808Z, I cleared all codes - everything - and started from scratch. Start engine, scan for codes, and a single code came up. BINGO!Two days later, working on an engine with the dreaded P0300, multiple random cylinder misfires. The 629 would never clearly tell me which cylinders, when, why, how. Seriously, I had been trouble shooting this engine off and on for weeks. The MK808Z live diagnostics clearly showed cylinders 2 and 5 misfiring, and sorta rocking back and forth. 2 would miss, and add about 20 to 50 misfires to the total, then 5 would do the same, both would misfire for a short time, then one or the other would misfire for awhile. I had already swapped coils around several times, but this time, I replaced BOTH at the same time. Huh - problem didn't go away - cyl 5 still misfiring. Went to another vehicle, and "borrowed" a known good cylinder, problem solved.Reset engine oil life, do throttle position relearn, do camshaft position relearn, go for a test drive. Wow, it runs like new!The MK808Z definitely finished paying for itself with the third use. Live diagnostics of the O2 sensors showed that the downstream sensor worked - sometimes. That's why it might be driven for a week, before the computer threw a code. Pull the sensor out, and I found an abraded wire that was apparently sometimes shorting out.I'm highly impressed with the tool. I can see all kinds of stuff that lesser tools cannot see. This is a little expensive for an amateur like myself - but as I've pointed out, mine has paid for itself in three uses. Go ahead, spend the money, you'll thank yourself later.UPDATED REVIEW: I looked all through the documentation, trying to determine the maximum size external storage compatible with this diagnostic tool. I got a reply of 64 GB, which matches the documentation I've read. I didn't like that answer, because this is Android 11 - it should work with larger micro-SD cards. So, I got myself a 256 GB sandisk extreme, plugged it in - AND IT WORKS!!I'm fiddling with settings now, trying to move everything possible to the SD card. When formatting, I don't get any opportunity to format it for internal use. I won't be able to make the best possible use of this storage, but the 256 GB card seems to work just fine.

Big bang for the buck
Does 99 percent of what my expensive Snap On scanner does for a tenth the price. 2 years of updates included. I have multiple Autel devices and this is one of my most used.

Not what it's hyped up to be
Tried using this to program a key fob for a 2003 PT Cruiser,it would not give me the security code to do that.Next I tried programming a key fob for a 2005 Camry, all it did was give me instructions that are available on countless YouTube videos and websites, did not need this scan tool for that.I also went to clear the "maintenance required",same thing- instructions on how to do it by pressing the trip meter with the key on.I have been doing it that way for years without a scan tool.I went to use the TPMS feature and it says to have your TPMS tool ready.Well if I need my TPMS tool then basically the scanner just tells me how to get the vehicle into relearn, which that information is available on many websites and Youtube videos,do not need this scan tool for that either.I used this tool :EL50449 to reset the TPMS it's $10 on Amazon. It will either scan the VIN or you can enter it manually which are extra steps,as soon as I plug in my $70 scan tool it automatically gives me the codes and monitors and their status in color so I know at a glance if monitors and which ones need to be ready. That's the other thing when you finally get to where it checks the monitors it just gives you a list that you have to scroll down the page to see.It would be impossible for me to drive a car to check to see when the monitors are ready because they are not color coded, green when ready, red needs to be set and you cannot see their status at a glance. Also 48 updates that only a few downloaded and would install. This scan tool may have some great features ,but I did'nt get that far after seeing how it failed in the above tasks.Sent it back.
