Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix 8 Qts, Include Perlite and Sphagnum Moss Debris, Great Potting Soil for Venus Fly Traps, Pitcher Plants, Sundews

I had a Venus fly that grew a lot in my previous pot. I used this to transplant it to a bigger pot, and I am impressed by the amount of soil it has. My plant is growing with more space now. Thank you.

I used this for a VFT and a nepenthies. The VFT loves it, and it keeps the nepenthies damp. Be sure to use enough of the perlite. Also, a live ground cover grew in with the mix, I like it. Some peeps won't I'm sure.. worked well for the price.

I finally repotted my hardware store flytrap that was in desperate need of space to stretch its legs. It’s been a week, and so far so good, the plant seems healthy. The soil seems to drain well and stays damp when in a tray of rainwater. It only took a few minutes to break up the compressed soil and fluff it up, however, it only resulted in about 1.8quarts, rather than the 3 it was advertised to make. I had to use a smaller pot (5x5) for it to fill to the top.

The sphagnum moss debris and perlite are in separate packages, thus I was able to decide how much of each I wanted to add to my pot. The moss seems compressed and comes flat. I simply broke off the desired size of moss and added it and perlite to distilled water and mixed them together, then placed the mixture into a pot. It created the perfect soil for my flytrap; my plant had been thriving since I placed it in this soil. There are no additives or fertilizers, which carnivorous plants can’t handle. I have a lot of moss and perlite left for repotting in future years. The price was also great for the amount of moss/perlite in the package.

My Venus fly trap and Sundew are thriving in their soil I bought. Go bigger size at for more value. And he sure to have a bowl of distilled water and place the soil in it so it absorbs and can be easily torn to fill in your pot. That's what I did anyway. As for the pearlite, it's in a separate bag and I just mixed it in the pot with my fingers.

The media could not be loaded. I ordered this product on May 28th and used it to repot my Venus Flytraps on May 31st, which was about one week ago.PROS:- Once you break up the brick, it does expand quite a lot. I was able to use the 3qt package to pot 5 small Venus Flytraps- and I still have some left over.- The mixture holds water extremely well.CONS:- As previously mentioned, I’ve been using this soil mix for about a week, and it’s sprouting grass like crazy. Last night, I plucked a single blade, and then this morning, there were over 20 blades of grass I needed to pluck out. For those who don’t know, it’s not ideal to let grass grow with your VFTs. The task of plucking the grass out wasn’t difficult by any means- it’s just an extra step to keep in mind if you decide to go with this product.

Don't be fooled by the small size of the package, when water is added, the soil quickly expands to the advertised amount. Great idea - remove the water to reduce shipping cost! I put my new pitcher plant in it and in a month, three new pitchers have come out. Looks like good stuff!

Easy to mix the perlite and sphagnum

Small dry package...just add water and it expands like crazy. Perfect environment to keep my flytrap happy. Mimicking the perfect bog environment, stays damp and has a nice bit of algae moss typebthing going...all I know is my plant loves it lots of new growth and a happy hungry plant that's notoriously hard to keep.

I use this product for all my carnivorous plants, always. Works good.

Tested the first flush of this mix with distilled water (0ppm) and it came out at over 200ppm. Make sure you properly flush before planting any of your carnivorous plants.

I have grown many flytraps in the last few years. I like that it’s compress. Take off as much you want. After it swells up the moss is quite good holding moisture. Don’t use big pieces because when you add water it really expands.
