Great Read
I really enjoyed it. Thought provoking regarding the way corporate cultures can spiral out of control and the extent to which a desire to succeed makes it near impossible to resist, regardless of your values. Thank you for your story Jamie.

Not great
As a retired investment banker I was interested to read this book but actually found it pretty tedious, self serving and quite short on detail. Having spent a life on trading floors it would appear that the authors was quite mild

Moral high ground?
The real victim here seems to be Jamie’s husband who was left to bring up their children while Jamie was out having an affair… you lost any sympathy I had for you after that Jamie… and it was not Goldman that made you do that, it was your clearly your decision…

this is how it really is
Perfectly mirrors my own experience - the biggest tragedy is that the business suffers because they don’t monitor this kind of behaviour - and really, it’s abuse.

One of the best and most riveting memoirs I have ever read!
This is an incredibly powerful and moving account of the toxic culture that can persist in the corporate world (and Wall Street in particular). The author is gut-wrenchingly open and honest, readily admitting her faults and mistakes. The sanctimonious overtones that have ruined so many memoirs for me is nowhere to be seen here. Instead, you have here a vividly credible story of a young woman struggling to succeed in a virulent environment and is forced to sacrifice her personal values in order to survive. Thankfully, she does not succumb to the "vampire squid" and instead finds the strength and courage to leave the firm and go public with her story. True bravery on so many levels. While, as a white man, I have not faced the misogynistic harassment that the author did, I too was caught in the trap of sacrificing personal values and health to fit into an avaricious culture. The danger is all too real.

open and honest memoir
Well written account of Jamie’s time at Goldman. Her honesty of her own shortcomings made this book real and not look how great I did while I was there.I hope we see a sequel of life as a stay at home mom is n 2035!

Read in 1 day/ALL the feels
I’ve got to be honest: this book is a tough read. And by tough, I mean that in the best way. It is infuriating, inspiring, heartfelt, vulnerable, and eye-opening. The author is such a good writer in addition to her stories being insane. What I really loved about the book was that she didn’t complain or whine about her problems… instead, she talked about how she **became** a part of the problem. The fact that she is so brave to go against such a MASSIVE financial institution that runs a large part of the world, is mindblowing. This book made me laugh, cry, laugh, and cry again. It’s a must read for everyone. I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in a day! Now I just wish I was a part of a book club that read this together so I could talk about it with someone! 😊🤯

What a ride!
This book should definitely be a movie, because there are so many moments where you CAN'T BELIEVE what you're reading. You can't believe that actual professionals (men) behave this way. And yet the author presents her memories in such a neutral, documentary manner, that I believe her completely. From her male boss wanting an Excel sheet for female coworkers' "tit size and ass shape" to being told to put away the family pics on her desk, to being mocked for wanting to use the lactation rooms (male colleagues literally mooing at her) — this is a revealing memoir of the institutions that govern so much of society, and that urgently need to change. The best part of the book is she isn't sanctimonious or holier than thou. She documents her office affair, and while those passages are sizzling, she also vividly describes how close she was to losing her marriage and how much work it took to save it. Overall — from reading this book, I love this woman & I want to see this as a movie.
