I’ve tried to like SFA but I just don’t get it
I’ve tried to like SFA but I just don’t get it. I don’t hear what other people must hear in this music? I’ve listenef to probably 3 SFA albums and most of Gruff Rhys solo music and the only one I really like is Hotel Shampoo with I like A LOT.

Welsh Gold
My Favourite SFA album, though they did release strong albums after this, but with “Radiator” the band absolutely nailed it, producing a record full of near perfect songs & creating a genuine original style. But what the incentive for purchasing this album again is the bonus material, of which there is a whole bucket load. There’s the excellent “Ice Hockey Hair” EP, eight non-album B-sides (“nO.K.” is just Gruff singing the English & Welsh alphabet!), the demo sessions for the album, which I always find fascinating how songs can evolve & change, plus “Music Box” which I think is a previous unreleased song. “Smoke” & “Dim Ysmygu” are just remixed versions of “Smokin’’ & “The Boy With..” is dance music noodling, not really my cup of tea.The only criticism is the sound of the more up-tempo tracks is still a little tinny, which hasn’t been solved from the original release. So definitely worth getting again for all the extras, plus a album that still stands up twenty years later.

Great example of how to do a reissue
Great example of how to do a reissue. The bonus tracks compiled by Kliph Scurlock make this worth the money and collect all the bands output from this era into a neat package. The B side are generally up there in quality with the rest of the album and the demos will appeal to the bigger fans.

but I honestly thought that the sound quality of the album as a whole would have been better.
Not too many surprises. As a monster SFA fan, I felt that this album was required material, and the band needs to be supported in any way possible. The extra material definitely was enjoyable, but I honestly thought that the sound quality of the album as a whole would have been better.

Disappointing lack of download code and bonus content
Fantastic album and the vinyl is a great package, ***BUT*** you don't get the extensive bonus tracks that are on the CD and there's no download code, making it actually a pretty poor buy.

sounding much better in it's 20th anniversary remastered incarnation - but
sounding much better in it's 20th anniversary remastered incarnation - but, given the lo fi source recording antecedents, do not expect a silk purse in the sound department.
