Other reviews had noted that it really can't handle to much heavy hitting. I tried to work through a log with a knot in it. And the knot won. The wedge really is good for wood you can split with one or two hits, mostly kindling or smaller logs. The metal is hollow, so if you look closely at the picture I included, the metal simply ripped off. I should've paid attention to other reviewers. And, of course, the seller is nowhere to be found and provides no way to contact them. I probably wouldn't have even written this review if I could have contacted them first.

The product is sturdy. Must be screwed into a log or similar to use. The support bar swivels a bit but after the first swing of the sledge, the log you are chopping is on pretty tight. Good product.

a great splitter and very easy to use not limited to size of the logs, best if secured to a stump or something else as it gets tippy

-There was no protection on the blade upon shipment-There was some rust on the blade-Blade is not as sharp as explained, tested it with computer paper and had to put force into it to tear it in half. Does not split wood well.

Heavy duty. I like the screws included ir attach it to a base.

Kindling. It won’t split knots. I have a piece of kindling stuck in there now. I’ll have to unbolt it from the deck to get it free. The blade was rusty and had nicks in it when I unpackaged it. I’m returning it. I’ll order a different brand and see how it does. It doesn’t seem to even budge at splitting normal size firewood into kindling. Very disappointed. I got all the cedar split into small pieces my husband had stacked to split the day he died in September. But it hardly will do anything else. The bolt to hold the rest on comes loose.

Ok so I never write product reviews but this thing was a complete bummer. Now I knew going into this the blade wasn't going to be razor sharp and I wasn't expecting it to be, but the amount of rust on the blade was just insane. This could have been easily avoided by just adding extra oil before packaging the product.Next the screws which I will admit aren't the most important part of this product are complete and utter dog manure. I predrilled four holes into a large stump, cleared the shavings and then began screwing them in by hand and 3 of the 4 screws broke not even half way through.For a product that cost nearly $100 you'd think they would actually supply you with some half way decent screws... not to mention you will be swinging a 3-5lb hammer at this hunk of steel with a large blade attached to it. Anyway I had some proper screws on hand so I shouldn't have to worry about lodging the blade into my skull.I will take a stone to the blade and use some mineral oil to keep the rust at bay but this thing was a let down out the box.

Just got the product for splitting large hardwood logs, and it works just like advertised with a 4lb sledgehammer. Arrived in perfect condition. Would defintely recommend.

Works great for splitting wood but the bolts keep coming loose and need to be tightened regularly

The Blade has a ding in it. If the wood has a knot in it forget splitting it. One of the wedge things that separates the wood is broken off. Overall I would rent a splitter for the day and get it done in one go for the price and durabilityupdate - the blade has broken in half and it is now useless.

Using a 4lb hammer on large logs, it seems to work great - less effort than an axe, for sure.

Je l’ai choisi pour ne pas avoir à me soucier du diamètre des bûches. Fonction bien avec une petite masse de 4 lbs. Refend les plus grosses bûches pour un plus belle flamme dans un feu d’ambiance et en plus, plus besoin de chercher du bois d’allumage. J’ai changé les vis qui le tiennent en place par contre car elles se sont brisées au premier usage.
