Is it worth the money?
Let me first say that I'm old...really old, especially when it comes to gaming (I started playing in my mid 40's) and I've always just used the headsets that came with the unit until 3 years ago when I decided to "upgrade" to a $50 microsoft headset. I was perfectly content with that headset until somehow I cracked it by probably falling asleep on it. My teenage son bragged all the time about his top of the line Astros. Therefore after hours of research and trying to discern the best I could from the upper tiered headsets reading all the reviews, I settled on the Razer Thresher Ultimate headset and here's why. I didn't want to have to worry about syncing it up to my Xbox one S and deal with potential pairing problems. I also didn't want to have to buy any type of extra equalizer to get the dolby surround sound. I also didn't want to spend over $250 which I swore I'd never spend over a $100. But since my 55th birthday was just around the corner, I decided I was worth it. Not to mention I was tired of getting destroyed on BlackOps 4 and at my age I need every advantage I can get. So I figured being able to hear footsteps and what direction bullets were flying from might help. The one thing that struct me right off the bat was the quality of packaging and materials itself. Extremely high end quality. It was nice to see and feel like the money I spent I was getting quality. I found setting up my Razer ID and registering my product somewhat confusing. It says to get an ID then register it, but when you do that it asks for your Razer ID? I just decided to skip over the Razer ID box and put in my information. Once I did that it gave me my my ID. The other part that was confusing was it said to enter the the product number. Well there are 2 of those, one for the hub and one for the headset and it's not clearly identified on the box. Once that was done it was time to set it up. This was easy even for someone like me following the tiny directions in the pamphlet. What I didn't like was the pamphlet didn't include HOW to work the volume knobs. I know what you're thinking, how tough can that be? Again, I'm old, so I couldn't read what the microscopic symbols on the headset were. So at first I couldn't hear anything, then I could only chat and not hear the game. I tried in vain to raise and lower the wheels but I either blew my ear drums out with the game sounds and couldn't hear my teammates or vise versa. Finally I decided I'll look on the website and try and find support. After clicking on the product, on the left side of the page there is a link for the master guide which clearly explains the two wheels. One of the wheels is the balance between the game and chat volume, the other thumb wheel is the overall volume which can be pushed in to mute the mic which I'm not a big fan of. I'd much rather just to be able to flip the mic up to mute it like some other headsets have. Why this information wasn't included in the pamphlet that came in the box I have no idea?! So now that I know this, it took me awhile to get the correct balance. I didn't like when you turn the thumb wheel all the way up or down it emits a tone. The problem is it's the same sounding tone and you can keep spinning in so it doesn't stop. I would think once you go all the way in one direction it would stop and you could work your way back, but nope. I'm also not sure if I'm a fan of the retractable mic. Maybe it's better than flipping it up so it doesn't break as easy? But time will tell. So now comes the sound review part. It gets plenty loud enough to hear, in fact so loud it sounds like your in one of those movie theaters where the sound is deafening. There is 0 lag and the chat is clear although once in a while I hear some crackling but it goes away quickly. My friends say they can hear me fine and I sound clear. The ear cups are comfortable enough so that my glasses aren't pinched to my head and my ears stay fairly cool unlike my old headset where I'd have to take them off cause I couldn't take how hot my ears were. I do think they are a tad heavy with the metal support over the head band, but again maybe that's a good thing as far as not breaking easily? The other thing I like is that you can keep them plugged in to play if for some reason you forget to charge them from the night before. And they give you really long cable to do so. Now for the million dollar question, do I hear the footsteps and can pinpoint which direction they are coming from or which way the bullets are flying? It's definitely better than what I had. Is it $200 better? For now I'd say no. I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep them or get the Astro A50 which are even more expensive.

Decent headphones at best.
6 months ago, I decided to try a pair of wireless headphones for my Xbox One X. I can say with confidence that I’m overall satisfied with my decision. However, the bass from explosions and gunfire is punchy, but doesn’t rattle my skull like I hoped they would. I got a wired set of HyperX Clouds about 2 years ago and the bass was quite mouth opening. The HyperX however ended up losing audio in one ear cup and eventually both after a couple months. With these Razer Threshers though, I am proud to say I’ve had zero problems except for the fact that the bass isn’t as good as I wanted it to be. The comfort this headset offers is so satisfying being someone with an average sized head. They do tend to slip off my head a bit if I jerk my head around in frustration or excitement. The sound quality is good for its price. And as long as you treat them with care and respect, putting them back on the headset stand when charging and making sure both earcups are symmetrical when not in use, these headphones will hold up for at least 6 months. Now for personal preferences. I play Rainbow Six Siege, and if you play that game you know how important footsteps are. I find myself having a 50/50 chance of hearing someone flanking me and either turning around just in time to react or not being able to hear the enemy fast enough. This, and the average bass have given me thoughts of buying a different headset. As I said originally though, the sound quality is good, comfort has allowed me to wear this headset all day, battery life is somewhere around 14-16 hours, and the only issues I have are personal preferences rather than technical flaws. Easy 4 out of 5 rating for me.

Great Headset but...THESE DO NOT HAVE MIC MONITORING/SIDETONE
Great Headset with Outstanding features and great wireless sound, but...PER RAZER SUPPORT, the Razer Thresher Ultimate DOES NOT HAVE SIDETONE/MIC MONITORING. It was so unclear by reading reviews whether or not this product had mic monitoring. I pushed the mic volume button in and held it just waiting to hear that "BEEP" everyone said you would hear. But, to no avail...no beep was ever heard. This is when I got online with Razer Support and got the answer straight from the manufacturer.I gave these headsets 4 stars for their performance and sound. I would have given them 5 stars if it had sidetone. I have used Astro A50's, Astro A40's TR with Amp, Turtle Beach Elite 800X. The Thresher Ultimates sound was on par with all of these. The Cooling Ear Cushions that came separately were amazing and comfortable to wear. I easily got a full gaming session on one 4 hour charge (The information said 16 hours on one charge, but I am returning the due to the sidetone issue so I guess I will never find out for sure). In closing, if you're looking for a great wireless headphone WITHOUT SIDETONE/MIC MONITORING...then these are the headsets for you.

Thresher is better than astros and turtles wireless. Ear cushions a bit thin though.
I purchased these (thresher ultimate), Astro A50’s, and Turtle beach ear force 800, over a span of 6 months.I like the threshers the most overall. Astros and Turtle beaches both had connectivity issues atleast once out of every 5 hour session of playing. This to me is unnaceptable for the price point. They both also have a higher price point due to their charging station, which barely works. It takes an average of 10-15 seconds of fumbling to get the connection points to line up in order for the headphones to charge. Ill stick to 1 second to stick a charging cord in (they should really add strong magnets to line them up).Overall, The threshers have been much better but I do have one complaint. When playing daily, my ears start to hurt after the second hour of playing. I am not sure if there is a defect in this set’s ear muffs or not, but it is becoming bothersome. I have owned these before and never had this issue.I have been searching for replacements for the ear cushions that are thicker in order to keep pressure off of the lobes of my ears. So far no such luck.

Worth every penny.
I absolutely adore this headset. I was skeptical about spedning this much even after reading so many amazing reviews and watching so many youtube videos abiut it, but I can assure you that tis headset is worth every penny. The first thing I noticed was how it feels a little heavy in your hands but feels weightless on your head. The ear cushions are like pillows and the headband adjusts to any head size. They took a few minutes to set up but afterwards I was blown away. The sound quality is like nothing i've ever heard before. The regular sound mode works amazing for most games, as well as all music and movies and the Dolby 7.1 surround sound feature is perfect for any shooter or competitive game where sound plays a major role in your success. You may notice certain sounds sound quieter or hollow with surround sound on but that is because razer turns down the unnecessary sounds to highlight the important ones and it works perfectly. I personally play a ton of Rainbox Six Siege, and Call of Duty and the surround sound pinpoints the direction of sounds such as footsteps, reload sounds, shots being fired, and explosions while also giving you a very ggood idea of how far or near the sounds are. The surround sound seems to create a 360 degree space around you and alerts you to every sound's location and distance from you. The battery life lasts a significant amount of time (roughly 14-16 hours) and the headset takes 4 hours to fully charge from a dead state. This is by far the best headset i've ever had... Definitely an upgrade from my a10s.

Superb quality but fragile
I've had the headphones for about 6 months now, they never leave my desk, and I always use the stand. One of the pieces of plastic that holds the headphone to the headrest has broken in half. Again let me stress I'm not stretching the headphones wide apart or using any kind of excess force. I'm honestly just upset because I went with Razer because I've heard that it was a more durable brand..

Great head set
Very comfortable , the surround is great . A couple of times I had to take them off because I thought the surround was stuff happening in the room I was in lol. I’ve tried a few different types of Head sets and this is the only one that keeps my ears cool after a couple hours of gaming . Seems sturdy and well built .

Buenos.
