Shadowscapes Tarot (Shadowscapes Tarot, 1)

Breathtaking art, cards could be thicker
The media could not be loaded. I bought this as a deck to bond with my faery guides more closely. I also bought the Paulina Tarot to see if my guides would prefer that. While that one is gorgeous and has better cardstock, that one will be returned. Nothing comes close to the vibration of this art for me personally. I'm an artist, and with the style of art on these cards, I feel like I could have designed this deck myself. I don't mean that disrespectfully to the artist, as if anyone could duplicate this work. I mean that it speaks so in line with my soul that I feel like it's always been a part of me. The death card for example is one of my favorite cards of all the decks I own as I always associate the death card with a Phoenix, and all the other images seem to trigger memories from other realms and different lives.I see people calling it cluttered or too hard to read. This is not the case at all for me. The Paulina Tarot is cluttered and muddy (for comparison, not to trash on that deck; it really is lovely and whimsical, just way too busy for me). The Shadowscapes Tarot is expansive and airy. I have a hard time breathing, but when I look at these images, it forces me to breathe deeply in a very natural, purifying way. The colors are refreshing and crisp. The images do have details, but only where it matters, otherwise the background is left blank, which helps create that expansive feeling. It was very well thought out by the artist and well balanced.I included some pictures of the book, but I cannot comment on its contents. It's a massive, heavy book, and I don't often use guidebooks. I could've bought the version without the book, but I read that the cardstock on the version with the book is better. Plus, this set was selling cheaper than the cards alone. Still, I know the book will come in hand.As for cardstock, they have a slight gloss that helps them slide and shuffle, yet I don't think they'll slip out like crazy. They are on the thin side, but no moreso than a standard RWS deck. I know they'll wear down with time, but it shouldn't happen for a while because I'm very gentle with my decks. I never ripple shuffle, but they do feel like the perfect weight for that. I would worry about that, though, as ripple shuffling any deck causes curvature and extra, unnecessary wear. The box is sturdy but outlandishly large to accommodate the book. I'll have to buy a bag or make one to fit it, because I'm not keeping this huge box on my shelves. I might even toss/ donate it. I hate being wasteful, but I have no purpose for it, and I'm trying to stay minimal. If this fantasy imagery speaks to you, do not hesitate to buy this. The realms of the Fae definitely had a hand in making this divine deck. You can feel the energy of this deck is genuine, not a made-for-profit ordeal. Each card begs you to explore yourself deeper, and I know I'm only just at the beginning of a grand adventure with these cards.

Wonderful!
Comes with the deck and the book. The book is very well written, all of the cards are well explained, especially the major arcana. It has some basics too, how to prepare for a reading, how to pick a question, some rituals, even a part about keeping a journal. It includes some spreads too (about 8), so it's a very complete companion book. I believe a beginner could easily follow the instructions and start reading with this deck.I had a few concerns before making the purchase from reading other reviews:1- Some said the cards are too small to actually see the details of the drawings. I definitely disagree with this! What I think is that the cards are so incredibly beautiful that people naturally want to see more. My eyesight is not that great, but I think the size is just right. Anything bigger and the cards would be uncomfortable for shuffling, anything smaller and they would indeed be too hard to read. In my opinion the size is perfect as it is and the images are just amazing!!2- Some said that the colors are muted and too homogeneous across the whole deck. I disagree with this one too, but I do believe there has been more than one published version of this deck and that a previous version may have been printed with fainted colors. I found the colors strong and with enough variety so the deck does not get boring. Each suit has a main color (wands is orange, cups is blue, swords is purple and pentacles is green). Some cups and swords cards have lighter colors, but most of the cards have very intense beautiful colors.3- The cards were said to be flimsy. I do agree that the cards are thin and that's a shame. Stronger cards would last longer, but they're not so thin that they'll fall apart after a few shuffles. They're not the strongest cards I have, but not the thinnest either and this is definitely not a deal breaker. This deck is rich in symbols and took some getting used to, but it was well worth the investment and the time I took studying it. I've had some great readings with it.

Stephanie artwork is stunning thinnest deck I own!
ProsArtwork is stunningly beautiful, light, positive, colorful, one of the best whimsical fantasy deck out in the market. The images feels other worldly sci fi like I dropped into the most glorious dreamNo dark scary imaginaryBeautiful fairies and mermaids in the cups. All grouped together by animal/fantasy and colours. Its somewhat divers with people which is a joy to see ( a few men, Asians and Africans) yeah!I have found this deck great for spiritual reads, and path work.Has a quite voice that is profoundly clear with its message, beautiful readings!Close to the RWS but original it's own self and vibeVery intuitive deckConsFlimsy and card stock. It's greatest down fall in my opinion!I want a deluxe version with better card stock. Shadowscape deck is the thinnest card stock I own and second most used professionl deck.Somewhat strays from the RWS so it's a very intuitive deck so depends on what you prefer or like. (Could be a benefit)As the books is quite poetic she has a tendency to ramble about on about nothing, her book lacks depth.Stephanie Pui Mon Law is an incredible fantasy artist. I would prefer higher quality materials as you never know when the deck may stop printing in my opinion. And to me it's an insult to the artist material. Please do a deluxe version! My deck already has a bend to it and looks scratched. I look after all my decks. Paper the thinnest I've ever owned and the silver boarders can scratch off so be careful with this. The artwork is finely detailed and extremely beautiful I can understand that people find this deck difficult to see and even with my good eye sight. I have a tendency to stare a lot longer then other decks. I wish this came in a deluxe slightly bigger size lets pressure the artist he he!
