VIE Anti Mosquito Patches, 20 Patches

I have been using Insect patches for years, I have been able to use the same brand for years, until recently the stockist changed it range, and you can only purchase them online if you are retailer, I am not a retailer, so I had to source another brand, I decided to try these as the reviews seemed the most promising, I haven now returned back from my holiday on the Nile in Egypt, of which I can say does come with mosquitos, and can honestly say these patches have worked perfectly for me, I place mine just to the right or left of my belly button, as I only wear swimsuits, so have no issues hiding it, yes at first there is very faint smell of thiamine, but that's natural, but once in place it soon goes. I did only receive 2 bites, one was from an ant the size of my thumb on my ankle, the patch must of worked, as I only got a sharp sting, a raised lump, and nothing else, normally people that get bit by this ant suffer lots, (i'm not saying this will case for every one), the second bite was much later into my holiday, whilst I was standing in amongst a large Mosquito area, all I received was a little nip, and no itching, or swelling. These patches worked for me, they are value for money with a 4 weeks supply, I still have 2 weeks left for next time.

My wife has used the patches frequently over the past 8 months and has certainly suffered less from insect bights which have tormented her in the past. The patches do give off quite a strong aroma but we noted that the only bad episode during this time coincided batch of patches which did not have such a strong aroma. The general success rate means that she will continue to use them until something better comes along.

Didn’t work for me at all. Still got bitten rotten, even got a bite right next to where the patch was on my tummy!

I found this to be a very effective mosquito repellent as normally I get bitten however much spray or lotion I use. This time I didn't get one single bite, nor did my husband - fantastic! We spent two weeks in the Dominican Republic where the weather was hot and humid and the mosquitos were out in force. A lot of people around the resort had huge bites so I'm guessing sprays wouldn't have been enough.We also went on an evening horseride through forests up the mountain and back to a BBQ at the ranch. It had rained quite heavily earlier in the day so there were loads of flying insects - mozzies mostly. I really thought I'd get bitten out there especially as I didn't use a top-up deet spray just in case. But again, not one bite!I was a bit worried about the smell on my skin of the patch but it's faint and you don't notice it after the first day. If anyone else does, so what - better that than covered in huge red bites.Each patch lasts up to 36 hours but we changed ours every 24 hours, after a morning shower. They stayed on all the time, through swimming and an evening shower too.I'd definitely recommend these and will use them every time we go to mozzie countries in future.

Night before we were due to fly, I applied a patch to the right cheek of my backside, by the time we arrived at our destination some 24 hours later, the area felt like someone had scolded me. Two very red and angry blisters had formed at opposite angles of the patch. I stopped use at once as per the instructions, but they continued to be very sore and uncomfortable for the remainder of my holiday. I am left now with scars in that area. Word of warning at the first sign of a tingly sensation remove at once.

I was with a group in Mexico in the jungle reigon and for the first 3 days of using the patches I had no bites at all. Then we went on a boat trip and the mosquitos were definitely not fussy - I got bitten about 4 times. Thereafter, using the patches every day I still found I was bitten a few times and I even used 100% Deet spray too ! do think that they will get you if they can - although the severity of the bites were not as bad as the 'group' I travelled with so I think they took a nibble and then let go. I would recommend buying and using every possible thing on the market to stop being bitten - the only way to protect yourself is use EVERYTHING at your disposal. They do wrist-bands - I should have got one - get some of those too ! Also lemon oil is good - buy a bottle in Holland and Barrett. To conclude, definitely buy the patches. Note that if you go into water for a long time though they do fall off so make sure you order extra !
