Great value and works very well
I used this on a 3 day trip to the Lake District and it worked perfectly. Filling it with water is very easy due to the large opening and it never leaked as my old Vango one did. (it was less than 1 year old)I bought this one as it has a proper lid on it which makes leaks much less lightly. My old Vango one had a resealable close on it which was like a ziplock bag with a clip on top. I found that because the clip didn't slide very easily over the bag it was hard to put on and as it wasn't a proper seal it leaked while I was on DofE.Whereas this bag has a proper lid so it doesn't leak at all and was very good while walking in the Lakes.Overall its very good and is great value compared to others that were much more expensive like the Camelbak ones.

Fit for Purpose
Last year I decided that I was fed up with being a couch potato and took up Nordic Walking. As you have to use two poles and they are strapped to your hands (Look it up) using a conventional water bottle requires a lot of hassle, strapping in, unstrapping and so on, so a hydration bladder is an essential. I've used 1.5-litre models in the past but with the summer coming on I needed something that would at least last the morning before it needed topping up.This unit is well made and has stood up to all my abuse with no problems, it's easy to fill and easy to clean; my only niggles are the lack of a cut off valve in the hose separate to the push/bite valve which has a tendency to dribble and the cap that is supposed to cover the end valve doesn't fit very well and keeps coming adrift. If it weren't for the fact that it is tethered to the tube I would have lost it on my first outing.

Perfect
I used it with a 30L backpack which is hydration bladder compatible. On my trip, I was hiking about 30 km everyday while wearing my backpack and the size was perfectly balanced to carry enough water yet not make my pack too heavy. It worked exactly as it should, no leaks etc. It is also very easy to refill with a generously-sized aperture. Currently it has been cleaned and on standby, ready for the next adventure. Much cheaper than alternative products out there as well but performs just as well.

The mouth piece may not be faulty as stated on previous negative reviews!!!!
I have used the bladder twice and on both occasions struggled to get liquid into my mouth. DONT STOP READING JUST YET, AS ALL WILL BE REVEALED.On a 22 mile walk I was previously drinking 1 litre of water and had to preserve it for the last 6 miles or so and with warmer weather on the horizon realised 1 litre would not be sufficient and so I looked for a bladder to fit into my berghaus back pack which has a pocket for water bladders. This bladder fitted the pocket a treat. The instructions which come with the bladder are poor and at first I thought there was a built in water filter behind the cap where you fill the bladder. On closer inspection I realised it wasn't a filter and was just packaging that required removal. The first time I used the bladder I struggled to get fluids out of the bladder. Once home I noticed I had only consumed 0.25 litres of fluid. 1/4 what I would usually have consumed. The second time I used the bladder I turned it sideways in the backpack in case the contents of my bag were preventing water coming up the tube. Alas, no, same problem.Today I ordered a bite mouth piece to replace what was on this bladder and so removed the mouthpiece by placing it in boiling water to soften the tube in readiness for the replacement and to check that water would run freely without the mouth piece. As expected, without the mouthpiece it was easy to obtain water from the bladder but of course useless like that as it would leak every where. With the mouthpiece now detached from the tube I tried to suck water from a glass using the mouthpiece. Again it was very difficult. I tried blowing through the mouthpiece and it was difficult to do that also. With nothing to lose I decided to try and remove the rubber that you bite on to so pulled at it and I thought I had broken it as the plastic slightly (4mm) popped apart. But hey presto!!!!!! That was the problem all along and I suspect negative reviews stating the mouthpiece doesn't work didn't realise this also due to the mouth piece having a tight push on cap and that you have to bite down on the mouthpiece to be able to suck up fluids,So to use the mouthpiece you must1. Remove the cover2. Hold the soft rubber that you bite onto with one hand (or mouth) and with your other hand the hard plastic beneath the soft rubber and pull apart.3. When finished drinking push the mouth piece together again4. Replace cap.I have just cancelled the order for the replacement mouthpiece and hope it is cancelled as it stated it may be too late to cancel. But I hope this review is useful to some of you who purchase the bladder or those who are currently cursing it for not working!!

Works well, but the water tastes a bit off
Works as intended.Unfortunately the water does have a plasticy taste which I have not been able to remove regardless of how many times I washed it.Overall I think its a good product for the price.edit: removed another star (from 4 to 3) because the water still tastes plasticy despite regular use after several months

Would definitely recommend.
After my old hydration bladder suffered through neglect over the winter it was time to replace it.This bladder is made from far sturdier material than the one that came with my backpack, the filling hole is also much larger and big enough for me to get my hand in and wash/dry it out properly for longer term storage when I'm not using it. The grip at the filling hole is also very strong as is the filling hole cap giving me confidence when it's tightened. There's a small rubber grommet that seals the drinking tube to the bladder and I put it in the wrong place and had to break it to pull it out; Raniaco have offered to replace it for free.....can't really ask for more than that.Would definitely recommend.

Leaked
If you choose to purchase, do test it out before taking it on a hike. I couldn't find my other one so made a hasty purchase, filled it with water and left. Upon getting off the train, I found my bag wet as the pack was leaking at the bottom. Fiddled with it for a bit but it wouldn't stop leaking so instead it ended up in the train station bin. I'm sure I was unlucky rather than it being the norm, but be wary.

Had quite a bitter plastic taste until I soaked it for several days but after that it's fine.
The big opening makes it easy to dry inside with a tea towel and it seems robust. You do need to remember to screw the hose back on, if you take it off to dry, before you fill it though as there's no valve. The end cap does not click on but it's firm enough fit that it doesn't fall off when I use it. The clip to retain the cap is too weedy and tends to fall off.
