Great gesso- goes a long way and covers well
I use a number of different primers, depending on what kind of painting I am doing. But I wanted a basic acrylic gesso for some simple acrylic paintings and took a gamble that this would be decent. And that gamble paid off. It's a reasonably thick gesso, but still liquid enough that no additives are needed, and it goes a very long way.I added some marble dust to some of the surfaces, and I find that cheap gesso tends to clump in that situation. Whereas this handled the marble dust no problem.Definitely a high quality primer this, I may even use this for my oils- though I usually use a much heavier base.

Excellent product
I’d highly recommend this to anyone who uses acrylic paint. It prevents the paint from drying out as quickly. It also works really well, when you wish to use acrylic paint in a more watercolour style.

Wonderful product
This product works very well and helps your acrylic to dry slower and will still dry to a lovely vibrant smooth finish . I highly recommend .

Making Watercolours PERMANENT!
For this Testing, i'd just like it to be know that although i use watercolour [and other media] i am an acrylic lover - acrylic is the main paint i use constantly. I love it's permanence and fast drying time, but it was watercolour that taught me patience, the love of being able to fade/lighten colour with just one stroke and the joy of colours blending all on their own.I also would like to point out that i used watercolour ONLY - eventhou this is for acrylic i used W&N Sketch Pocket Set [half pan watercolour - pans were used instead of tubes because it's always go to do your testing with all the variables you can; and the variable in this would be the inclusion of the amount of water that pans need, where as tubes can be just straight up paint] as it's what's mentioned above that drove me to experiment [acrylics come nowhere near this review]But it was my love of acrylic and not being able to use ProMarkers anymore that led me to try this experiment.----------------------------------------------First off; the bottle is very small BUT like with all Winsor&Newton Mediums the quality and strength is exceptional - as i've mentioned in a previous [unrelated] review about W&N's Iridescent Medium and Aquapasto a little of the stuff can quickly over-power anything you mix it with. It may be thick but use a little/thin it with water and it'll go a long way ^^ It also dries rather quickly [thou this does depend on how much you slop on] And has a sheen similaur to school pva glue.Second; eventhou it states there's no colour shift when you use this, it DOES affect the paint. Watercolour has a natural colour variation: as you use it it lightens itself so you'll literally have dark and light in one stroke. This glaze obliterates that variation and make it uniform [and abit dull regardless of the glaze's sheen]. This is good for doing flat colour and large areas but is bad as it takes alot of paint to darken the mixture so you can get back that variation.Third; althou the colour is flattened this also makes it similaur to using ProMarkers! As you layer the colours on top of one another the transparency and 'darkening' is exactly like a Marker. Which means those that love to use paint/can't afford markers/or just like simplistic/manga style art will find this feature a bonus :D [also those layers will bring back the richness of the colour]Forth; as the title states, your watercolours become permanent when you mix it with this, which means no more worrying about streaking/wipping off bottom layers - you can layer to your hearts content and as much as you like with this stuff! Water does not affect it, layering colours won't affect the others AND you'll also find [depending on you mix ratio] that transparency is improved.Fifth; you can use this like Permanent MASKING FLUID! Put the medium on your paper first and paint over and you'll see exactly where you've put it and just wipe the paint off. You can also get some interesting streak patterns by brushing the glaze over the watercolour [and as it dries these designs will fix in place so you can paint over that aswell! Thou it's not a good idea to put directly over a painting if you don't want it to streak]In Shortwatercolour artists if you ever wanted your paints to be permanent, mix it with this, thou you're colours will get flattened this can be over come by layering or making the mix as dark as you are comfortable with and just using a small drop [ you can get the variation back to a degree but you have to be careful how much is on your brush]ProMarker artists if you ever wanted to try using a brush or making your own 'marker' coloursTo anyone who likes experimenting or just wants the peace of mind knowing that that painting that took you forever will be safe from accidently spillsThen try mixing you paints with Glaze/Varnish Mediums[Advertisement Over....just kidding ^^ Happy Experimenting!]

Good
Great flow improver and I used it to thin acrylic paints that have started to thicken .

Sticky glossy finish
This had an overall sticky and glossy finish for me. I used it for air dry clay sculptures and pots and this was not the best finish when it comes to water based materials.

Super smooth finish and easy to use
As described and perfect for preparing those boards and canvasses for a nice smooth finish, which is exactly what you need of wanting more details in you work. Easy to use, would buy again.

Gesso

Consigliato!
