WOW! What a bargain..
Wow! What a player! This replaces my ageing pioneer bdp 320 which in its day was a what hifi award winner for sound and picture quality. Hmm i guess technology really has moved on because this sony s7200 kicks its fat ass. I'm running it through a sony 1050 surround sound amp and epson EH-TW6600 projector on a 92 inch (on the diagonal ) screen. The first film i played (oblivion) which looks absolutely pristine on the sony with its clean bright whites and deep inky blacks with excellent colours. The sound in bitstream is the real star though. The way the sony s720 works with the 1050 is just amazing steering the sounds from tom cruises aircraft around the room is just sublime. I had to put the paramount opening on the first transfomers film where the stars fly over the lake to the transformers sound stage is just awesome at a moderate volume.. The s7200 is easy to set up. The built-in Wi-Fi is great as i use bbc iplayer a lot and works beautifully on the sony in hd and has streaming software built in to keep the image clean and stable which works very well. I looked at this player a year ago at its full price of 225.. I paid 119 pounds on amazon. Best blu ray player I've purchased so far..it has a huge amount of apps you can access through the opera app site. The user interface is a little dated as its the same as the ps3 but runs very slick due to the dual core processor. The remote is tiny but is well laid out. The player is a full size gloss black rectangle with sharp edges and smooth disc tray action. I put the player in quick start up mode and takes about 2 seconds to start up and 15 to 20 seconds to start up menu which is lightening quick compared to the 60 to 90 seconds of the old pioneer. The sony s7200 is whisper quiet in operation and is a very special player at a fraction of its original price. Fantastic..

Sony BDPS7200 4K 3D Blu-ray Disc Player no sense waiting for true 4K content
Sony BDPS7200 replaces my ageing Samsung BD-P1600 player that simply fails to play any of my latest Blu Ray discs. So far I can report zero setup issues integrating the Sony player with my AV system. I have fairly good broadband connection and wireless setup via my BT Vision box hooked up to Yamaha 1030 Amp and my 5.1 BnW speakers...WIFI worked for me without a hitch. Fired up Fury disc to test picture and sound quality...My previous player refused to play the final battle sequence so I scanned forward to this scene and was quite impressed by the minimalist remote handset controls. I was bit weary of noise from the player but compared to my ageing Samsung player it was noticeably quieter so some confidence restored in that sense. Although early days and a bit soon to detect whether upscaling standard DVDs is any better than my previous player, I'm quite impressed by this purchase. From placing my order via prime and delivery chap turning up 09:00 next day I'm very pleased so far. So no sense waiting for true 4K content for me. At this price point you receive a high end machine that delivers on picture, sound and build quality.

Great disc playing and very fast start/load - fussy about video files over home network
Very quick to start (compared to previous Sony box), and great quality on the disc playing (I'm only using 2D HD pending TV replacement with 4G/3D). Good menu system and access to web services, and ability to play video/music/pictures off local network. And that last point is the flaw at the moment - it would be a great one-stop-shop to supersede misc media players etc, but check the (online version of the) manual first as it seems quite fussy on what video formats it will play over DLNA, particularly from my NAS. My mainly-MP4 collection mostly doesn't, MKVs do but can't pause/rewind etc, AVIs seem to sometimes but slow to load, still experimenting with others. The manual lists some formats that don't work over DLNA and some eg. MP4 that 'may not' with no clues as to which codecs etc it likes and which it doesn't. Sony customer services were singularly unhelpful, suggesting I convert my entire MP4 collection to a format that works (actually, pretty much every format has 'may not work' small print). Great, then they won't work with my equally fussy Apple devices, or I'll have multiple formats to store. Still experimenting when I have time.

great picture and audio
Early days, but seems a good playerTechnology brings advantages and glitchesHas wired and wiresless internet connectivity, plays blueray, dvd, audio cd, music and video files and has 'apps' also NAS capabilities.Great viewing on blueray and dvd and excellent audio cd quality (with gracenote lookup providing the details).Capability to connect a portable harddrive to rear usb. (Beware that the harddrive will appear in the sony 'crossbar' seperately under audio, video and pictures? - meaning the files will appear unplayable unless accessed in the 'correct' slot? i.e. you will still see all the file structure, but it will only play your mp3 when in the music slot and not the video or picture ones?!)The remote is tiny and could do with more buttons dedicated to functions that instead need several curser movements to activate? In conjuction with a hdmi tv and a soundbar, you'll have a nice way to enjoy your media!
