Needed a biotin-free prenatal for blood tests
Biotin throws off blood tests, especially for thyroid. Pretty much all prenatal vitamins have biotin which you need to stop taking 3-7 days before your blood test. I didn’t want to go that long without methyl folate altogether so paused my full prenatal during that time and used this instead. Was great! Will use it every time I need to repeat the process.

A good adjunct
I have the MTHFR mutation ("compound heterozyte"). My doctor prescribes for me methylfolate 15 mgs. (generic Deplin). I get the same good effect by putting two of these under my tongue and between my cheeks. I take it also with sublingual methycobalamin (methyl B12). I can't begin to express the great benefit I've gotten by finding out my MTHFR status and addressing it with these needed supplements. When you take something sublingually, you can take substantially less that you need if you swallow something. That's why two of these gives me the same benefit as the 15 mgs. of Deplin (or generic). I alternate the two, and do fine, and I increase my intake of foods with folate, being careful not to cook them much or at all, since time and again I've read that cooking destroys folate. By the way if you have the MTHFR mutation, it's best to avoid folic acid in supplements and enriched flours. Whole grain is better for your health anyway, as my doctor reminded me when I asked him about this. I'd totally recommend these pills. Keep in mind that you'll need methyl B12 as well, if you have the MTHFR mutation. When I stop taking these, I really struggle with depression and a sense of overall malaise. Also keep in mind that these pills are meant to be held in the mouth, under the tongue and between the cheeks, moving them around like that, till they dissolve. From my experience, this form of taking supplements is superior to swallowing them, because this way they go directly into your bloodstream. So I take most of my supplements this way now, even those not fashioned to be taken sublingually.*********************************************************A few months have passed since I wrote the above review. I need to amend it. I have the MTHFR mutation ("compound heterozyte"). The small amount of L-methylfolate in these pills, one milligram (same as 1000 micrograms) is not enough for me. My symptoms returned. So I have gone back to the 15- milligram prescription L-methylfolate (Deplin or its generic). I use these little ones for an afternoon pickup as needed. I take the prescription pill first thing in the morning because L-methylfolate is best absorbed sublingually or on an empty stomach. I empty the capsule and put it under my tongue when I get up. You can also get the prescription strength over the counter, and next I will experiment with that. I read that if you have the MTHFR mutation, you need to make sure the form you are getting is L-Methylfolate. Look for that "L".

This was suggested by my Functional care doctor
My usual pharmacy site is on backorder so checked Amazon and bought this product here. It is good tasting and dissolves easily under the tongue. Seems to be helpful.

I sleep so much better, and am confident that I'm providing my body ...
After learning I have a mutation of the MTHFR gene, I read that extra folic acid isn't the way to go. Instead, I needed to be taking folate in a form that my body could actually use. I was tested after multiple miscarriages, so the proper form of folate is certainly my #1 priority! In conjunction with these lozenges, I also started taking more B6. Suddenly, my insomnia (something I thought was completely unrelated) went away. I sleep so much better, and am confident that I'm providing my body (and future children) with the correct supplement for development. Easy to take, and offers me much peace of mind. Thanks!

Lower dose... good form vs capsule
I added this to my supplement stack because of the research but it seems I’m not in the portion of the population that has the genetic deficiency assimilating folate so I did not notice any effects but in no way does that mean it is not a good product I was just petting the tail on the donkey to see what happened.

Do you have the MTHFR gene defect? Get this!!!
I have the MTHFR gene defect. It runs in families. My body doesn't metabolize folic acid. There is only ONE form that it will metabolize. L-Metafolate. I used to take Cerfolin, until my insurance considered it something I didn't truly need, a health food. I went to a doctor that gave me a prescription for something that cost $90 a month. Then I saw this! It is exactly what I need at a much lower price. Why do you need to be able to get folic acid that will metabolize? Because if you don't, you are more likely to get heart disease, stroke, cancer and birth defects when you have babies. Good enough reason for me! My doctor (who has researched this due to his family having the gene defect) said that all women should be screened for the MTHFR defect before they have children. Most doctors will recommend taking MORE folic acid, if you have it, but if you can't metabolize it, it doesn't make any difference how much folic acid you take!

I love that this is a good tasting pill for the ...
I am working with our whole family's MTHFR issues (C677T +/- and +/+), and am tinkering with lots of supplements. I love that this is a good tasting pill for the littles, and one less thing I have to grind up and mix with lemonade or chocolate milk.. :) I also really trust Dr. Lynch, whose brand this is, because he has given out so much helpful info. I like that I can trust that the supplements are best for the issues I'm trying to heal.

Pleasant to eat- helps my MTHFR issues
I am super happy to have found this product. I like that is is a tasty dissolvable tablet instead of just another pill to take. My MTHFR mutations make it REALLY hard to lose weight even when I eat super healthy. But after about 2 weeks of taking this stuff the weight just falls off. I think I'm averaging losing about 3 pounds a week. What a dream!

Too early to be sure
It’s difficult to say whether these are having any effect as yet. I have Hashimotos and my absorption of nutrients is badly compromised. The levels of B12 in my blood are extremely high, leading me to believe that I’m not absorbing a useful amount. My hope is that over time, these supplements will improve the amount of B12 I can absorb and use in my cells. Based on other reviews, I have high hopes. I received them promptly and felt they were a fair price. I hope this helps.
