Good book to get you started on your way to collecting coins

The information in this book is very good, but it does not have enough pictures to view.

This book has a decent amount of info for a beginner coin collector. I liked the recurring theme that you shouldn’t go into collecting for big profits and instant riches. You should collect based on your interests. What is bad about the book is it is poorly written. Many of the thoughts are unorganized with unnecessary words added to sentences and paragraphs. I often felt like I was reading one of those instruction manuals from a product made in China that was obviously written by someone with a less than stellar command of the English language.

This book is a great intro to coin collecting. I have inherited a coin collection, so I am gathering information on it as a hobby. This book opens with the history of the hobby. I thought that was interesting. Then we move into what all the hobby entails. I thought the section on how yo spot counterfeit coins was particularly informative. Because your collection is only as good as what can be verified. Overall, I learned a lot and this book has really sparked my interest to pursue this hobby.

The book is so poorly written, I wonder how it got published. There are grammatical errors everywhere.Many paragraphs make no sense. Obviously there was no proof reading of this book by an independent publisher. Some of the information is useful for first time beginners, but it was SO PAINFUL to read through it. I began wondering if English is the author's native language. There is no information anywhere on the internet about the author. It looks like it may be a pen name.

Good for a beginner to read. It’s not the and all be all for coin collecting but it does have good information for the true beginner. Lots of chapters and it’s an easy read, not a lot of jargon that a beginner wouldn’t understand.

My bad for not looking more closely but all US based and I was expecting pictures of what’s valuable etc. not just how the US mint works.

Good prodaket

This relatively short book introduces newcomers to coin collection and covers areas such as the basics of numismatics, coin grading as well as buying and selling coins. The focus is on US coinage although the topics are relevant to all coins collected. Some topics such as grading could be explored further and are insufficient to guide new collectors.

I have always liked collecting particular objects, so I decided to buy this book dedicated to coins.the reason? collecting coins is an ancient art that has always fascinated me but I didn't know where to start and so I bought this book.I must say it was a great guide that helped me find out a lot about coins.did you know that there are many types? what are wrong with it? yes, like everything around us, even the world of coins really has a lot to offer to its fans and to those who come to them for the first time. after reading this book I am even more convinced that I want to start my own collection!

Disappointed
