Moroccan quatrefoil pattern stencil, home decorating, wall painting art craft Ltd (S/A4/see image for info)

Although the stencil is well made, it took me many attempts to learn how to use it in a way that doesn't smudge the design. The instructions say to use a roller or stencil brush. I don't have a stencil brush and didn't fancy buying one just for this project. The roller didn't work for me. The paint kept sealing through under the stencil and causing it to smudge badly. I eventually used the corner of a sponge used for washing dishes! I dabbed over each tiny part of the stencil carefully. You need to hold the stencil firmly in place, I used masking tape but still had to hold it firmly with my finger near each section I was 'dabbing'. Because the area I was painting (a wooden planter) was larger than the size of the stencil, I had to move the stencil in between. This was very difficult, as the edges of the stencil had to sit on a previously painted area, which began to smudge previous work. Moving the stencil also meant I couldn't do multiple coats so the finished product wasn't as nice as I had in mind. It was also very time consuming so I only did one side of the planter with the Moroccan design.. the rest I had already painted plain blue anyway. The flaws I have mentioned are probably typical to all stencils, not just this one. But because this was my first attempt at stenciling, these are the hurdles I came across and thought it may help someone if I share. Those who have been stenciling a while, or are pros, this stencil is a lovely design, made of strong material, and looks nice. You may know how to use it much better than I :)

I couldn't understand why it kept going wrong no matter what I did. I tried following the wall, then I tried following the plumb line of old wallpaper. Every time it was never straight. So panelled squares were put on the wall so I could use an area that was put up with a spirit level. Turns out this whole time it was the stencil that wasn't straight.

This product came about 3 weeks early. Loved the stencil I've used to it add some life into my kitchen into a Turkish traditional style..Love it.

Good product ideal for what I needed it for very happy with my purchase, I stenciled paving slabs I'm my garden.

didnt realise it was so big such a lovely stencil people actually think its wallpaper
