Worked great until the software didn't
If I had given this review the month after I bought this I would have given a 5 star review. However now 6 months later I have $100 pen that is awkward to hold and no longer can communicate with my computer. I have spent hours online only to be sent in circles downloading different upgrades and programs. Half of the links from Irisink sends me to outdated information or require that I reregister every time I try to look at an outdated manual. Some of the "new" software I have been sent to apparently runs best on Windows 7 and requires me to make new purchases to use it. I have attempted to reach out and have received less than helpful feedback.I should have invested in the gold-plated fountain pen. At least it would still have some value.

reinstall the program
I lost my device which had IRISNote 3 AIR. I tried to Install the divis with a new computer. But I could not because it needs the serial l number and it was on the cover of the software which is not available now after a long time. I tried to install the software from the net but all asked for the serial number. How can you help me on this matter?

Best Smartpen on the market!
In the last month I've tried the Livescribe 3, the Neo N2, and the IrisNotes Air 3. The IrisNotes is the best pen on the market in my opinion. First of all, I don't have to purchase or print special paper, which is a requirement with the other two pens. Secondly, the IrisNotes recognized my handwriting with fewer errors and would transcribe sentences with fewer line breaks. Also, the IrisNotes will open up Microsoft Word with the touch of a button and move your document into a a new Microsoft Word page unlike the others, which will force you to email your document to yourself or save it to a PDF, Evernote, etc.I did have a little trouble setting up the IrisNotes in that the receiver wasn't recognizing my pen. After a full charge on the pen and receiver and a couple resets, it's worked like a charm ever since. The only negative to the IrisNote so far is that it comes with a receiver that you must attach to the top of your page, which means you'll have an extra gadget to carry around and keep charged, but it works so much better that it's not a big deal to me. Just like the other two pens, you can use standard mini ink refills, so no special ink to purchase.IrisNotes is owned by Canon, which leads to me to believe it will be around for a while. The pen is comfortable in the hand and much lighter than the Livescribe 3, which felt bulky. If I had to choose the most comfortable to hold of the three, I would have to go with the Neo N2, but the price of the paper and the fact that it's sometimes difficult to find turned me against the pen.The IrisNotes Air 3 will come with a soft carrying pouch, four ink cartridges, an ink cartridge remover tool, the pen, the receiver, and the usb plug, which you'll use to charge via the port on your computer. I'm very happy with this purchase.

UNDERWHELMING IRISNOTES 3 AIR
The kindest thing to say about the IRISNotes 3 Air is that the hardware is slick. As for the "you write it types" slogan used to sell this device, nothing could be further from the truth, it is simply underwhelming and most unimpressive. Here's a sample of what the IRISNotes 3 Air can do "mhdihfdrdthtatorftnttphoheewakdnfrtwsabeihngradstrisaendgeodsahdusband hkeenikxwnaisthsaildoshakkdimidhnthiwmaatdtne thchadtaplkanoanvaaswaetoimuetgfeiftolgcdyshregmutatetapnhhfthfhhgdieates". In case readers are wondering, the text is English. The $160 this item cost is the most useless spend I can ever recall. Rather than help my practice which was the claim about this device it hinders me in every way possible, really bad product.

Does not work!
While this appears to be the most attractive and elegant of the digital pens (and that includes LiveScribe), it simply does not work. To add to the "hurt", I have been in touch with their alleged Help Desk any number of times. --- They have been absolutely unresponsive after many attempts. (I wish there was a phone number so that I could chat with a real person, but, no way....just an "email chat". --- With 40+ years personal experience in the IT field and lots of experimenting in this digital arena, I can safely say, "Never, ever waste money on this device." Stick with Dragon by Nuance; it's far more reliable.

Can't change cursive into text, but works great
Can't translate cursive into text, but it really does copy my writing well. Pretty impressed.

Cannot connect to support because its end of life was in 2020.
Was supposed to be new and was covered in writing and other stickers. Cannot even get to the serial number because the shipper put stickers over it. Did not get the two ink refills it was supposed to come with either. I had high hopes for this being a great smart pen. Sorely disappointed. Cant wait until my equil smart pen 2 arrives to give me something usable.
