If you haven't got a long cake knife, then this is very handy and easy to use

This is a good item - it’s sharp and cuts through sponge easily without having to put too much pressure on the cake. The handle itself is quite small and not the comfiest to hold but apart from that, it does exactly what I want it to.

This makes levelling my cakes, and removing the caramelised outsides, much easier. I find it hard to get it started sometimes and there is definitely a knack to getting it started, and producing a new clean cut. You use it like a saw rather than a knife. I am pleased with the purchase though and would recommend it, especially once you've had a bit of practice.

This cake trimmer is ok, but not very sturdy and not that easy to use. I have only used it once as I can’t seem to get on with it. I find a sharp knife does it better

I had a shallow cake that needed to be cut into layers. I would have broken the cake if I'd have used a knife like I normally do. This came quickly and did the job.

I’m amazed at the quality of this item for the price - I’m fairly new to proper cake baking, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that that “wire” was in fact a woven chain that made short work of not only my Madeira but also a slab of orange jelly! Very much looking forward to using this plenty more in the future.

PME 12" cake leveller. Only used for sponges. Does the job fine, as long as you are careful with the sawing action needed. Easy enough to clean. I'd prefer it to feel sturdier - nothing's gone wrong but I'd be more confident
