Dermaharmony 2% Pyrithione Zinc (ZnP) Liquid Castile Soap (10 Fl Oz Bottle)

My dermatologist diagnosed the swollen, scaly, red, itchy patches around my nose and mouth that suddenly appeared last summer during a heat wave in North Alabama as perioral dermatitis. He prescribed an oral antibiotic and Metronidazole Topical Cream (RX only). On my first day of usage, I had an allergic reaction to both medications and had to visit the ER. (My neighbor had a similar problem, and he was prescribed the same meds by a different dermatologist, so this is surely the standard prescription, although it hasn't worked for him either.)I have always had problems with hives and allergies, but this was a first. After the prescribed meds failed, at least I had a diagnosis, so I combed the internet to determine whether there could be another product that would help my face survive the summer heat. I found magazine articles which recommended zinc pyrithione--even the zinc pyrithione in shampoos for seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp--for facial dermatitis. I was desperate, and I had nothing to lose, so I ordered a small bottle of DermaHarmony, at around $7.00, to try. It was like a miracle for me. My skin completely cleared within a few weeks, but there was visible daily progress! The instructions read that this product should be used twice a week after symptoms disappear, but I use a drop (about the size of a pea) every day because not only did it cure my perioral dermatitis, but also, I have not had hives since I started using it!Do NOT get this product in your eyes! I have made this mistake more than once, as I get itchy spots where my glasses sit on the bridge of my nose, and this product works for that, too. So it's hard not to get a little in my eyes if I'm not careful.DermaHarmony 2% Zinc is the only soap I have EVER been able to use on my face, and that is in 67 years of trying to find products that work on my red-headed, Irish skin. I still have wrinkles, but I do not have ugly red patches, and I am forever grateful for this product!

I can't say enough good things about this product!!! I am a long-time adult acne sufferer and have tried countless products over the years, but nothing has ever worked well before. A few months ago I had a breakthrough and started thinking of my acne as more of a psoriasis problem. Since then I have made a little more headway, but the breakouts continued. I was really afraid to order this because my skin is so sensitive to oil. (Anything that is not oil-free makes me break out almost immediately.) The fact that this is castile soap (containing oil) really worried me, but you know what they say... insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I was so desperate, I took a chance... and I am SO GLAD I DID. Thank you to all the people who took time to review this product because it was those reviews that convinced me to try it. Btw, most acne products are NOT good for you OR your skin-- they have lots of nasty/dangerous ingredients. That is another reason why I chose to try this-- I went on EWG.org's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database and was thrilled by how the ingredients scored (LOW toxicity!!!). I used this product to remove what I suspected was fungal acne on my forehead. It was recommended on a beauty blog I follow and it worked. I no longer have tiny bubbly pimples on my forehead. How I applied: in the morning while I showered, I would wash my face with my regular gentle cleanser. Then I would lather a small fine size amount into my hands and apply to my forehead. I would let it sit for a minute or two as I washed other parts of my body or brushed my teeth in the shower. I would then rinse it off and only apply lotion to the area as usual ( I use BP on other acne prone areas namely my chin and cheeks). I saw the fungal acne begin to clear within a week. I followed this routine daily for 2 months to maintain results. I find that from time to time I still have to use this as working out or overheating my body in any way causes me to develop fungal acne easily.

This product does a really good job of getting mild seborrhoeic dermatitis under control, however if you have a bad case I'd recommend topical steroids first or this product can burn some - atleast it did so in my case. Also, again just in my case, this doesn't need to be your go to daily facial wash as it can be harshly drying. I believe it even says on the bottle to NOT use every single day. And be sure to shave AFTER washing your face, not before. Learned that the hard way

I have tried so many over-the-counter products and several prescription medications. Some work (kind of) for a very brief moment. However, I've always had a problem with oily flaky skin, which causes acne, redness, and inflammation. I finally discovered, through my own research that I have seborrheic dermatitis. I found that zinc facial washes are very helpful in clearing flares, so I ordered this product. IT HAS WORKED WONDERS!!! Almost OVERNIGHT the flaking went away, allowing my skin to heal. I am so happy to have found something that works for my condition. My skin is looking fabulous.Be advised, however, this stuff burns a bit. If you have active acne and inflammation, it will burn those areas (not painful, but noticeable). And DO NOT GET THIS STUFF IN YOUR EYES. I found that I cannot just lather up my hands and rub over my entire face. I have to use my fingertips and be sure to stay clear of my eyes. Same goes for washing it off. I have to rinse off in sections so it doesn't touch my eyes. It'll irritate eyes for a few minutes after exposure.

The product itself seems to be efficient and useful. The packaging however is horrible. I had this bottle in my shower and the paper label dissolved slowly over time into a messy nightmare in my bathtub. This type of packaging is too antiquated to be of any use in my home. It's sad, bc other than that I would buy this product again.
